Dome Pondering Movie Review: The Social Network (2010)

What is it about? 

The story of how the historical social network site, Facebook, was founded. 

Who is in it? 

Jesse Eisenberg - Mark Zuckerberg 

Andrew Garfield - Eduardo Saverin

Justin Timberlake - Sean Parker

Favorite Scene: 

After supporting Zuckerberg and putting up his own money to help get Facebook off the ground, Eduardo Saverin learns that the investors, Parker, and Zuckerberg all set him up to sign papers that drastically devalued his share in Facebook.

Favorite Quote: 

Gretchen: 18,000 dollars?
Eduardo Saverin: Yes.
Gretchen: In addition to the $1,000 you'd already put up?
Eduardo Saverin: Yes.
Gretchen: A total of $19,000 now?
Eduardo Saverin: Yes.
Mark Zuckerberg: Hang on.
[Mark sarcastically adds up the 2 amounts on his notepad]
Mark Zuckerberg: I'm just checking your math on that. Yes, I got the same thing.

Review:

The Social Network is an interesting film. Initially, it is very intriguing because of the topic, Facebook, a topic almost everyone can connect and relate to, creates a natural connection with viewers. With the hook and interest there, the film is one that is well produced. The film exhibits great acting, dialogue, and intrigue by letting the viewer in on the founding story of the mega social networking site. 

More specifically, Jesse Eisenberg's portrayal of Makr Zuckerberg is amazing. His ability in the role as the weird, quirky, know-it-all, yet sarcastic mastermind was one that well deserved the many Oscar nominations and recognition from the academy. 

However, where The Social Network loses a bit of it's flare is it's inaccuracy in presenting the story. While it is understood that for film purposes a few aspects must be Hollywood-ified, receiving a somewhat half-truth of the story is a bit unsettling, and takes away from the film.

All in all, The Social Network is good watch. Great acting, superb dialogue, and an interesting story that will connect with just about anyone (if you are able to look past the skewed stories and character embelishment).

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 8/27/17

3 Up 1. MLB Players Weekend - The (insane) traditionalists had a problem with it, but the weekend produced plenty of fun games and moments, and gave fans and players a really cool weekend to be themselves and enjoy the game. I have a ton of stuff to share in the next Dope Sports Threads. Overall, can't wait for the next one... 2. MTV VMA's - Look, there were moments I had no idea what was going on, and I thought Katy Perry was incredibly awkward as the host. However, the moments that promoted fights against hate and empowered people to be themselves were awesome. Especially, Pink's speech - such good stuff. The VMA's still have plenty of work to do though under their new management. 3. Giancarlo Stanton - I think he just hit another home run. The guy has 50(!) and we're not into September, yet. Dome Pondering Movie Review: In a Relationship (2018)

What is it about?  Following the progression of two couples over the course of a summer.  Who is in it? Emma Roberts - Hallie Michael Ambrano - Owen Dree Hemingway - Willa Patrick Gibson - Matt Favorite Scene:  [Spoiler Alert] Matt and Villa sit on the stairs, and he admits to not wanting to introduce Willa to his parents.  Favorite Quote:  I don't... I don't think you ever find someone... you don't resent. And that's part of it. It's just... find the person you *want* to resent, you know. Review:  This was a weird film. The opener had much promise, but as the film continued, it felt like it was just getting longer.  My biggest gripe with the film is that I liked each of the characters less as I got to know them.
