Dome Pondering Movie Review: Half Past Dead (2002)

What is it about? 

While going undercover in a hi-tech prison in order to exact revenge on those who killed his wife, a man becomes wrapped up in a plot involving the FBI and a $200 million pot of gold.

Favorite Scene:

During a normal day at the prison, a rogue squad breaks in to begin their plan to hi-jack the prison and hold several important people hostage.  

Favorite Quote:

Lester: The rumor is you went half past dead and came back.
Sasha: Yeah!
Lester: Took a ride on the flat line for 22 minutes... and lived to tell. Thought we could play some cards and talk about that. 

Review:  

Half Past Dead is a very, very, interesting film. Not interesting in it's ability to engage the viewer, but interesting in the amount of ways it can confuse, alienate, and aggravate a viewer. Half Past Dead is dreadful, period. We're talking, very, very bad. 

Steven Seagal films are never Oscar contenders, but most are watchable, with a few being the occasional cult-like blockbuster. However, Half Past Dead is one of Seagal's swing and miss for his career. 

Half Past Dead sports poor character development, unbelievable situations, a very confusing plot, cheesy lines, and poor acting. It's the type of film that will leave you scratching your head and squinting your eyes in disbelief. 

The soundtrack, camera shots, and the occasional action scene is the only thing that saves this movie from being a shutout. 

Don't waste your time.

WWE SummerSlam 2026 Review: "Oba is made in the shade" & Roman vs. Seth Captures Magic

I can't say I was excited about SummerSlam heading into the event. Some storylines have moved me, but, much like pro wrestling in 2026, it feels like yet another incomplete creative vehicle (some good, some bad), with the hope that the event itself will overcome the shortcomings of the hype.  Admittedly, WWE could pull this off this weekend with some memorable moments (and outcomes), specifically from the two main title matches and from Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar. Maybe a return or two as well. Chances are, they likely will.  Personally, I have Penta vs. Chad Gable circled. What is it about?  A young woman, stumped by laziness, unaccountability, and a lack of guidance, comes of age through an encounter with a closed-off writer.  Who is in it? Grace Van Patten - Lillian Emily Mortimer - Julia Price Favorite Scene: Julia runs into Nate and his new girlfriend.  Favorite Quote: "Lillian, desperate for affirmation, how deep does it go? Review: Good Posture was an impulse add to my "Watch List" on Amazon Prime, and I finally got around to watching.  The film is a mixed bag, ripe for a deep connection through so many opportunities, yet shallow in other areas of character development and plot. Don't get me wrong, Good Posture is a decent film; for the nerds, you'll get "Finding Forrester" vibes but not quite the same impact.
