Dome Pondering Movie Review: Pitch Perfect (2012)

What is it about?

After giving college a try at the urge of her father, Beca joins an a cappela girl singing group and gives them a sudden flair and energy boost needed to renew their image as well as to rival a boy's singing group at the University.

Who is in it?

Anna Kendrick - Beca

Brittany Snow - Chloe

Rebel Wilson - Fat Amy

Favorite Scene:

When all of the a cappella groups on campus had some sort of sing-off battle before regionals.

Favorite Quote:

“This number is like an elephant dart to the public’s face.”

Review:

Pitch Perfect is not what I expected. From reading the movie description, I figured, "Oh alright, another one of those weird Glee-like movies". After all, as Anna Kendrick's character, Beca, says in this film, "Oh right, that's a thing now".

However, Pitch Perfect is very funny and really makes fun of the latest signing phenomenon in a tasteful way. The film really feels like Dodgeball, Bring it On, and the early-in-the season episodes of American Idol mashed into one. Just sheer goofiness and some classic one-liners throughout the film all while leaving you respecting the art form of a cappella singing.

Anna Kendrick is pretty good in her "too cool for school" role. And of course, Rebel Wilson as "Fat Amy" was hilarious.

Can't say it was terrible. Pitch Perfect is actually recommended.

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. Would you rather have Giannis Antetokounpo with no driving ability or James Harden with no Three-Point shooting ability?  This is definitely a weird and unique one, but I'll take Harden. Giannis without his strength doesn't offer much. However, if Harden's d...

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 6/21/26

The Sunday Sundown Rundown (formerly in the format of "3 Up and 3 Down") is where I share thoughts on three topics that piqued my interest, along with my favorite photo from the week. Knicks Parade  I'm sure you can tell from the recent posts on this here site, I am still in the Knicks Championship thought.  NBA Champs, babbyyyyyyyyyyyy!! Nonetheless, the parade was everything any Knicks fan (new, old, and long-time suffering) could have imagined. Memorable scenes. Emotional. And unforgettable.  For me, it was Mayor Mahdani's speech that jogged us down memory lane, and more so, the visual of the NBA Cup Trophy, the Eastern Conference Trophy (Bob Cousy Trophy), and dear (elusive) Larry O'Brien sitting on a table in the NYC sun. We ran the table.  Beauftiful. UK Social Media Ban This is interesting to me. The recent ban in the UK on social media use for individuals under 16 is well...yeah, interesting. There are continued heaps of data that show the dangers of soci...

Knicks Postseason 2026, Conference Finals vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

It feels like forever since we've played.  But we've got our opponent, and it's go time!  Review Thoughts from Round 1 Review Thoughts from Round 2 Like every other Knick fan, I too hoped for a seven-game series between the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers, and that's what we got. The long series added time for our squad to rest up (get healthy, OG!) and more time to scout exactly what we'll have to deal with in the Eastern Conference Finals.  We've been here before, and a trip to the NBA Finals once again feels all too close. All too real!  The Cavaliers present some interesting dynamics with their electric backcourt and the size up front with Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. There are also two players on the roster, Dennis Schroder and Max Strus, who often find ways to stick it to the Knicks. Sam Merrill seems like the kind of guy who would join that group in this series.  Nonetheless, the Knicks are on a historic run. The Cavs have been knocking on t...
