Sunday Sundown Rundown - 9/1/13

3 Up

1. President Obama and United States Congress - Whether you agree with his policies or not, you have to admire his ability and courage to seek action against the injustice taking place in Syria. Should be interesting to see where the congress vote goes for an attack.

2. Nelson Mandella - Good to see Mandella discharged from the hospital after near-fatal complications. The world doesn't seem ready to lose a man like that just yet.

3. Justin Verlander Donation - Always nice to see athletes donate money to great causes.

3 Down

1. Syria Pending Attack - The situation that has boiled over regarding Syria is one that is alarming and worrisome for international affairs. The buttons in which Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, seems to be pushing are indeed grounds for addressing.

2. Kim Jong Ill Firing Squad - Seems international affairs and crooked leaders are popular this week. The fact that North Korean leader, Kim Jong Ill has had some killed via firing squad is disheartening.

3. Matt Harvey - Just when you thought baseball luck handed the New York Mets something for the future, it all disappeared quickly. Harvey was a must-watch for baseball fans. Hopefully, he returns quickly and with the same stuff he had prior to the injury.

Review:  Say You Will was an absolutely pleasant surprise of a watch from the Amazon Prime offerings.  I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with this one, but after the credits rolled, it was a movie that provided authentic characters and a great lesson on life. We don't always have to have everything figured out, and it's okay if you don't.  What makes Say You Will so beautiful is that all of the characters are carrying some inner struggle that connects them in the moment and time that helps them through whatever it is. The unlike...

Trying to Stay Mellow on Melo and his "Brand"

(Courtesy: NYTimes/Richard Perry) Alright, fire up the rant machine after this one folks.  "What's understood doesn't need to be spoken upon" #DestiNY #TheFutureIsNow — Carmelo Anthony (@carmeloanthony) June 26, 2015 Carmelo Anthony really hasn't been winning any points with me lately. None. I've been indifferent on him even as the years have gone on and the Knicks fanbase continues to split on supporting him. Lately, I've been creeping over to the negative side. For me, a big deciding factor was when he decided to play in the Knicks game in London and in the meaningless All-Star Game to continue "building his brand", and thus delaying his needed knee surgery to the point of affecting his return for this upcoming 15-16 season.
