Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/25/14

3 Up

1. Memorial Day Weekend - I love Memorial Day Weekend. The unofficial start of summer, BBQs, beaches, and of course, honoring the men and women who make our country so great. As someone who loves to write, blog, and share my thoughts, I greatly appreciate my 1st amendment right and those who made it happen, and continue to defend it. 

2. Birthday - On this Sunday, it is another birthday for yours truly. Turning 29 is sort of an odd birthday en route to the milestone one of 30, but it's still another year of God's grace and living on this earth. I'll take it. 

3. Cricket Catch - As a son of a cricketer, I appreciate the wonderful game of cricket. This catch made by Kieron Pollard is amazing. Probably the best play I've seen all year, in any sport.

1. Virgin Killer - This guy is just another mass murder who has a gripe with life and unfortunately will be remembered for his evil deeds. I refuse to read anyone's words (The killer's 141 page manifesto) describing their reasoning for taking the lives of many. Just me, just my opinion. Either way, this is such a sad story. 

2. Kimye Wedding - It's unbelievable how much coverage our media gives these two. For what?! No idea. When other stories and issues are more pressing and deserves the attention for it's cause, we get more Kim and Kanye. Congrats to the both of them on their wedding, but shame on our media. 

3. Donovan Snub - The Landon Donovan snub is interesting. While I get the USA Soccer looking to move on in a younger and fresher direction, leaving the best American player ever still feels a bit of a gamble. And for now, until proven otherwise, this gets a thumb down.

3 Up 1. Eva Ramon Gallegos Cure HPV - Could Cervical Cancer be a thing of the past? It very much looks like it as after twenty years of work, Gallegos has found a cure that completely eliminates the cancer. This is remarkable work, and it's pretty awesome to see the Mexican Medical community come together proudly in this achievement. 2. "This is America" Grammy - Finally!! Childish Gambino got some national love for the work he did on this great song, and even more so, on the overall art/video that was "This is America". Of course, he wasn't there to pick it up as the Grammys and their long standing issue with the hip-hop community continues... 3. Women at SOTU - Women continue to be bad ass in the current age. Their solidarity within the Capitol for the President's SOTU was a great sight to see. 3 Down 1. 3 Up 1. Eagles Defensive Live - I'm no football aficionado or even a huge fan - but what the Eagles front four on defense did was dominating.  1a. Philadelphia Eagles - Congratulations to Eagles fans and the city of Philadelphia on the Super Bowl win.  2. Kendrick Lamar - I'm sure it'll be controversial - we all knew it would be going in. Throwing my two cents into the arena of public opinion, I thoroughly enjoyed Kendrick's performance. I'm a fan, so that's easy. Tough night to be Drake though. Yikes!  3. Human-Like Teeth in Pigs - Science can be cool. But stories like this are absolutely amazing.  3 Down 1. Plan for Education? - Look, I'm all for cutting wasteful spending from the government. However, I also want to know the plan to replace or support the areas that are being cut. Eliminating the Department of Education? Ok, cool. What's the plan after that? 2. Dome Pondering Movie Review: In a Relationship (2018)

What is it about?  Following the progression of two couples over the course of a summer.  Who is in it? Emma Roberts - Hallie Michael Ambrano - Owen Dree Hemingway - Willa Patrick Gibson - Matt Favorite Scene:  [Spoiler Alert] Matt and Villa sit on the stairs, and he admits to not wanting to introduce Willa to his parents.  Favorite Quote:  I don't... I don't think you ever find someone... you don't resent. And that's part of it. It's just... find the person you *want* to resent, you know. Review:  This was a weird film. The opener had much promise, but as the film continued, it felt like it was just getting longer.  My biggest gripe with the film is that I liked each of the characters less as I got to know them. I understand that the film attempted to highlight the modern relationship for a specific generation, and in certain ways, it succeeded in doing so.
