Sunday Sundown Rundown - 6/28/15

3 Up

1. Caught Prisoners - Finally, they caught those suckers! One is dead, and one is in custody. Kudos to the men and women of the New York State police for their efforts over the past three weeks. Now let's put Joyce Mitchell away for good. What a moron she is.

2. President Obama - Well done on the eulogy for the parishioners of the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Everything about it was amazing, especially the impromptu singing of Amazing Grace.

3. Miguel Cabrera - Only baseball provides these moments, and him giving this kid who was heckling him a bat and some gloves was really awesome. Great stuff by Cabrera.

3 Down

1. Confederate Flag Outrage - Look, I get the sudden push to remove the flags, and they should be, but it's just typical of our recent "outrage" movements to take such a stand AFTER nine lives are taken. Only then are local state governments looking to amend their handling of the stars and bars being represented in and around their buildings.'

2. Black Churches - So after Charleston and the sadness that it was, we get the news that five black churches throughout the south have been set on fire, or burned down entirely. Jees, is this the 1950's?

3. Pete Rose - I talked about it earlier this week (Charlie Liar! Close the Door on Rose), but after recent findings from Outside the Lines showing that Rose did indeed bet on his own teams, it's time to move on from the Rose debate. You're done, dude.

Dome Pondering Move Review: Say You Will (2017)

What is it about? A recent high school graduate cares for his mother while attempting to navigate his first relationship following his father's suicide.  Who is in it? Travis Tope - Sam Nimitz Katherine Hughes - Ellie Vaughn Favorite Scene: [spoiler alert] Sam plays his song for his mom. Favorite Quote: Ellie: "I wish we could have met down the road, maybe when we were like 27." Sam: "I think we needed each other now." Review:  Say You Will was an absolutely pleasant surprise of a watch from the Amazon Prime offerings.  I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with this one, but after the credits rolled, it was a movie that provided authentic characters and a great lesson on life. We don't always have to have everything figured out, and it's okay if you don't.  What makes Say You Will so beautiful is that all of the characters are carrying some inner struggle that connects them in the moment and time that helps them through whatever it is. The unlike...

Dome Pondering - 2025 Year in Review

2025 brought depth and growth.  In many ways, 2025 provided so many challenges and opportunities, allowing for a deeper, more layered approach to the world we live in. Our world is changing, and often, not for the better. Over the last 365 days, life has been more complex, more exhausting, and is asking so much more of us through these transitions and nuances than it did 365 days ago.  No big deal, right?  But hey, you're here. We're here. And we're going into 2026 much stronger, whether we realize it or not. But before we do, let's bid adieu to 2025.  As always, I'm incredibly gratefu l to those of you who still visit this little speck of the internet that houses my thoughts, rambles, and learnings. Thank you for taking a break from instant dopamine hits and videos, and likely the much cooler options of prepared content and indulging my humbled words. It is much appreciated.  It's the 20th annual - TWENTY YEARS of doing this! - Dome Pondering Year in Review. Le...

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 2/11/19

3 Up 1. Eva Ramon Gallegos Cure HPV - Could Cervical Cancer be a thing of the past? It very much looks like it as after twenty years of work, Gallegos has found a cure that completely eliminates the cancer. This is remarkable work, and it's pretty awesome to see the Mexican Medical community come together proudly in this achievement. 2. "This is America" Grammy - Finally!! Childish Gambino got some national love for the work he did on this great song, and even more so, on the overall art/video that was "This is America". Of course, he wasn't there to pick it up as the Grammys and their long standing issue with the hip-hop community continues... 3. Women at SOTU - Women continue to be bad ass in the current age. Their solidarity within the Capitol for the President's SOTU was a great sight to see. 3 Down 1. Venezuela Crisis - The country of Venezuela is in absolute shambles right now as they tussle over leadership, and really, a move toward d...
