Sunday Sundown Rundown - 12/20/15

3 Up

1. Zaevion Dobson - The High School football star in Tennessee was killed as he shielded three other girls from the gunfire of gang members. And while it's a shame that he died, and we have every reason to be outraged by the constant violence, I'll focus on remembering and honoring Dobson as a hero.

2. Cam Newton - Besides being really good at football these days, how can you not like Cam Newton? The guy plays the game with a certain enjoyment, and you have to love him giving away footballs to kids after every score! Plus, his performance this week against the Giants was outstanding.

3. Diving Between Continents - This story is amazing, even more so are the absolutely stunning visuals of a diver who has been diving in an an area in Iceland that allows him to touch both North America and Europe. Check it out!

3 Down

1. Virginia School District - I cannot believe how far we are going with the phobia on Islam as an entire school district was shut down after students received a "controversial" assignment including the Muslim oath. Yes, I understand the caution, especially the way our society gets crazy when it comes to religion and schools, but this is a bit far. Shutting school down? C'mon...

2. Democratic Debate - I have yet to watch it as it still sits on the DVR, but I have to ask, why in the world are the Dems continuing to place their debates on odd channels and on Saturday nights? Seems rather odd. Put it on primetime on a Wednesday night! The nation doesn't seem to have as much interest in the DemDebates as the GOP debates, and the off-placement certainly adds to the reasoning.

3. Miss Universe Pageant - Sure, Steve Harvey screwed up the ending. However, why do we care so much about these things? Why are these pageants THIS important to people? Call me crazy, but these things set women back years. Just my opinion, just bloggin...

Dome Pondering Move Review: Say You Will (2017)

What is it about? A recent high school graduate cares for his mother while attempting to navigate his first relationship following his father's suicide.  Who is in it? Travis Tope - Sam Nimitz Katherine Hughes - Ellie Vaughn Favorite Scene: [spoiler alert] Sam plays his song for his mom. Favorite Quote: Ellie: "I wish we could have met down the road, maybe when we were like 27." Sam: "I think we needed each other now." Review:  Say You Will was an absolutely pleasant surprise of a watch from the Amazon Prime offerings.  I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with this one, but after the credits rolled, it was a movie that provided authentic characters and a great lesson on life. We don't always have to have everything figured out, and it's okay if you don't.  What makes Say You Will so beautiful is that all of the characters are carrying some inner struggle that connects them in the moment and time that helps them through whatever it is. The unlike...

Trying to Stay Mellow on Melo and his "Brand"

(Courtesy: NYTimes/Richard Perry) Alright, fire up the rant machine after this one folks.  "What's understood doesn't need to be spoken upon" #DestiNY #TheFutureIsNow — Carmelo Anthony (@carmeloanthony) June 26, 2015 Carmelo Anthony really hasn't been winning any points with me lately. None. I've been indifferent on him even as the years have gone on and the Knicks fanbase continues to split on supporting him. Lately, I've been creeping over to the negative side. For me, a big deciding factor was when he decided to play in the Knicks game in London and in the meaningless All-Star Game to continue "building his brand", and thus delaying his needed knee surgery to the point of affecting his return for this upcoming 15-16 season.
