Sunday Sundown Rundown - 1/24/15

3 Up

1. Peyton Manning - There is something about redemption stories in sports that are truly inspirational. It's why sports movies continue to have the same plots. The latest chapter of Manning overcoming age, a backup QB who some think should start over him, wild HGH allegations, injuries, thoughts of impending retirement, a declining throwing arm, and the latest in beating a long time rival in Tom Brady for a Super Bowl berth is coming together nicely. Even if he doesn't win, its nice. But he's gotta, right?

2. WWE Royal Rumble - One of my favorite wrestling events of the year, the WWE absolutely killed it with a spectacular show in Orlando, Florida. The road to Wrestlemania has begun! Looking forward to it.

3. Panda Rolling in Snow - I'm not the biggest animal enthusiast, but for some reason I have an extremely soft spot for Pandas. I have no idea why. Despite my hatred for winter, snow, and everything that was this Jonas Blizzard this weekend, this video kept me smiling.

3 Down

1. Flint, Michigan - The stories coming out of Flint, Michigan and their contaminated water is absolutely horrifying. Over 8,000 children now have permanent brain damage because of it, and much, much more.

2. Northeast Blizzard Jonas - I hate snow. I hate winter. So this snowstorm deciding to land the second largest snowstorm in NYC history on Saturday night. 26.8 inches. Ugh. When does Spring start?

3. David Blatt Firing - Another NBA "down" this week as Coach Blatt found himself without a job after leading his team to a NBA Finals appearance in his first year, and a 35-10 record before being let go. A really, really bad look for the NBA culture, and the politics that go with it.

1 Stupid

1. Stacey Dash - Stacey Dash has said some pretty dumb things in regards to race relations in the past. Her latest is just as bad, actually quite stupid, in stating society needs to get rid of Black History Month and BET in regards to fixing diversity within the Oscars. The BET comment has some credibility, but nonetheless, Dash is not only way off base, but continuing to spew stupidity. I think it might be her plan to stay relevant.

Dome Pondering Move Review: Say You Will (2017)

What is it about? A recent high school graduate cares for his mother while attempting to navigate his first relationship following his father's suicide.  Who is in it? Travis Tope - Sam Nimitz Katherine Hughes - Ellie Vaughn Favorite Scene: [spoiler alert] Sam plays his song for his mom. Favorite Quote: Ellie: "I wish we could have met down the road, maybe when we were like 27." Sam: "I think we needed each other now." Review:  Say You Will was an absolutely pleasant surprise of a watch from the Amazon Prime offerings.  I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with this one, but after the credits rolled, it was a movie that provided authentic characters and a great lesson on life. We don't always have to have everything figured out, and it's okay if you don't.  What makes Say You Will so beautiful is that all of the characters are carrying some inner struggle that connects them in the moment and time that helps them through whatever it is. The unlike...

Dome Pondering - 2025 Year in Review

2025 brought depth and growth.  In many ways, 2025 provided so many challenges and opportunities, allowing for a deeper, more layered approach to the world we live in. Our world is changing, and often, not for the better. Over the last 365 days, life has been more complex, more exhausting, and is asking so much more of us through these transitions and nuances than it did 365 days ago.  No big deal, right?  But hey, you're here. We're here. And we're going into 2026 much stronger, whether we realize it or not. But before we do, let's bid adieu to 2025.  As always, I'm incredibly gratefu l to those of you who still visit this little speck of the internet that houses my thoughts, rambles, and learnings. Thank you for taking a break from instant dopamine hits and videos, and likely the much cooler options of prepared content and indulging my humbled words. It is much appreciated.  It's the 20th annual - TWENTY YEARS of doing this! - Dome Pondering Year in Review. Le...

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 2/11/19

3 Up 1. Eva Ramon Gallegos Cure HPV - Could Cervical Cancer be a thing of the past? It very much looks like it as after twenty years of work, Gallegos has found a cure that completely eliminates the cancer. This is remarkable work, and it's pretty awesome to see the Mexican Medical community come together proudly in this achievement. 2. "This is America" Grammy - Finally!! Childish Gambino got some national love for the work he did on this great song, and even more so, on the overall art/video that was "This is America". Of course, he wasn't there to pick it up as the Grammys and their long standing issue with the hip-hop community continues... 3. Women at SOTU - Women continue to be bad ass in the current age. Their solidarity within the Capitol for the President's SOTU was a great sight to see. 3 Down 1. Venezuela Crisis - The country of Venezuela is in absolute shambles right now as they tussle over leadership, and really, a move toward d...
