Dome Pondering Moview Review: Crazy Rich Asians (2018)


What is it about? 

Based on the bestseller, Rachel Chu heads to Singapore to meet the family of her boyfriend, a member of the famed Young family.

Who is in it? 

Constance Wu - Rachel Chu

Henry Golding - Nick Young

Michelle Yeoh - Eleanor Young

Favorite Scene:

After turning down Nick Young and his marriage proposal, Rachel has one final sit-down with Eleanor prior to leaving.

Favorite Quote: 

"Let me get this straight. You both went to the same school. Yet someone came back with a degree that's useful, and the other one came back as Asian Ellen."

Review: 

Crazy Rich Asians is a really well done movie. Very well done. Based on the bestseller book, the film does a tremendous job of representing Asian culture, and most importantly, giving a true voice to Asians with an authentic representation that I'm sure many who have grown up Asian-American can identify with. Easily, that was my favorite part of this film - being let in on the jokes and idiosyncrasies of Asian culture - all the good and bad.

On the other side is the love story, which isn't re-inventing the wheel in the realm of romantic comedies, but simply offering a superb and solid story.

The all Asian cast is tremendous, and there were some serious laugh out loud moments that makes this more than just a sappy Rom Com.

Overall, a solid film that I enjoyed. Definitely worth a watch.

What is it about? A woman moves back in with her parents following a shocking divorce. An unlikely affair with a younger guy revives her life and perspective on marriage. Who is in it? Melanie Lynskey - Amy Christopher Abbott - Jeremy Blythe Danner - Ruth Favorite Scene: Amy's dad, who is often much easier on her than her mom, comes to her bedside and gives her some money. Yankees 2025 Postseason - Ponderings and Stuff

Because of the response I received last year for my ponderings on last year's World Series , I decided to do the same for this year's MLB Postseason run. I'll drop some quick ponderings on the Yankees and their playoff run here. Because, well, I don't do "response videos".  Yeah, still a words guy. Still a nerd. Nonetheless, who knows?
