Dome Pondering Movie Review: Tall Girl (2019)


What is it about?

Jodi, considered the "tall girl" in her high school, deals with the confidence in being uncomfortable in who she is, and has always been.

Favorite Scene:

While at lunch, Jack sits with his new roomates and those who are considered "popular" and ends up doing some pretty crazy impersonations to entertain the group.

Favorite Quote:

"When you're a tall girl, it's the only thing people will see."

Review:

Tall Girl is just...weird. With plenty of disposable time over the holiday period that is the time vortex between Christmas and New Years Eve, the wife and I gave Tall Girl a spin one night after searching through Netflix.

I don't want to be too critical as Tall Girl does what we sought it out for - it entertained, but it can at times serve as background fodder while we attempt to put the child to bed. Tall Girl doesn't take much focus, as it is your basic coming-of-age movie dipped in the touch of adversity and overcoming personal marginalization.

And yes, as someone who is 6'5", there was a part of me that could somewhat...kind of...sort of, see the detriment in this film. But again, it's generic, it's there, and it didn't make you want to exit the Netflix app on your TV. And also, it's really hard to feel for a 6'1" girl who is indeed attractive, already has a suitable love interest to start the film, and seems to have a caring family. There just isn't enough to make me buy into rooting for the character to overcome and persevere with confidence.

By the way, Sabrina Carpenter and Angela Kinsley steal the show in this one.

Tall Girl is there. I'll let you make the call on this one.

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Thoughts on TNA on AMC Debut: "Yup, TNA is back. It is so back."

TNA is back.  And I know that because it is heavily under scrutiny by the internet. But that criticism comes with being back on a major platform like the AMC Network, and of course, taking the next step after a super successful 2025.  So, what did I think?  The show was...ummmm okay, at best. Some of the challenges the company faced heading into this weekend were well documented among the rumor mill, which didn't bode well for the company. In balancing reported visa issues with talent, pivoting after losing core talent to free agency, and attempting to build and manage talent workload with a premium live event on Saturday, TNA found themselves in the usual TNA stuff. The most peculiar - and strangest - of situations to be in going into a big network premiere. This company, man! All in all, again, the show was okay. It had its flaws. It had some cool moments. Dome Pondering Movie Review: In a Relationship (2018)

What is it about?  Following the progression of two couples over the course of a summer.  Who is in it? Emma Roberts - Hallie Michael Ambrano - Owen Dree Hemingway - Willa Patrick Gibson - Matt Favorite Scene:  [Spoiler Alert] Matt and Villa sit on the stairs, and he admits to not wanting to introduce Willa to his parents.  Favorite Quote:  I don't... I don't think you ever find someone... you don't resent. And that's part of it. It's just... find the person you *want* to resent, you know. Review:  This was a weird film. The opener had much promise, but as the film continued, it felt like it was just getting longer.  My biggest gripe with the film is that I liked each of the characters less as I got to know them.
