Sunday Sundown Rundown - 4/19/20

3 Up

1. The Last Dance - The first two parts were the quickest, easiest, and most enjoyable two hours of television entertainment I've engaged in during this time of quarantine. I miss sports. And yes, everything about this docuseries is phenomenal.

2. Sabrina Ionescu - Speaking of missing sports, when we do get them back, I very much look forward to going down to the Barclays to watch Ionescu and crew hoop it up. Welcome to New York!

BTW - So much props to the WNBA on the touching honorary draft of Alyssa Altobelli, Gianna Bryant, and Payton Chester

3. Howard Finkel - The super sad news of the passing of Howard "The Fink" Finkel shook me this week. A big part of my childhood is wrapped up in hearing Fink announce countless wrestling moments, including that famous line of "the winner, and the NEWWWWWWWWW" which was everything. I still imitate his voice in various joking moments of my life, including play wrestling with my son. I tip my cap to the WWE's first-ever employee, and the best to ever do it.

3 Down

1. Protesters - As noted in my Corona Times II post, I get the mindset. But really, the "protests" from many around America are head-scratching from a logical standpoint. The defiance to the social distance measures in place at this time is a clear and utter disrespect for the many men and women on the front lines.

2. Government Leadership - I have no idea what is going on? Our leadership says one thing, then says another. They bicker back and forth in times where they should be guiding the nation. Tweets are going out in contrary to what is being said during formal statements. And yes, the briefings have become empty appointments. You would never know 30,000+ have died. It really makes me examine who I vote for going forward.

3. Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz - Why did we even take wellness advice from these two before this? Their comments this week regarding the coronavirus emphasizes that question for all of us.

3 Up 1. Eva Ramon Gallegos Cure HPV - Could Cervical Cancer be a thing of the past? It very much looks like it as after twenty years of work, Gallegos has found a cure that completely eliminates the cancer. This is remarkable work, and it's pretty awesome to see the Mexican Medical community come together proudly in this achievement. 2. "This is America" Grammy - Finally!! Childish Gambino got some national love for the work he did on this great song, and even more so, on the overall art/video that was "This is America". Of course, he wasn't there to pick it up as the Grammys and their long standing issue with the hip-hop community continues... 3. Women at SOTU - Women continue to be bad ass in the current age. Their solidarity within the Capitol for the President's SOTU was a great sight to see. 3 Down 1. Venezuela Crisis - The country of Venezuela is in absolute shambles right now as they tussle over leadership, and really, a move toward d...

Dear Son, Uniquely Two!

--- 2 Years Old --- Dear Son,  Happy Birthday! I have to get used to you sharing a birthday with Jesus - that's still no easy thing to do.  However, you're now two years old! And while I write this, you haven't really been able to celebrate, more so your birthday. At a mere two years old, you're rife with germs and succumbed to a nasty bug, rendering you sick on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day (your birthday), and the days to follow. Everyone here for the holidays was unable to give you that moment, and really, we weren't able to get that moment on your second birthday.  The day aside, I'm grateful for the little guy that you are. In one of my previous notes to you, I mentioned " That's Milo " and you've continued to express that. You're very unique - a character in every way. The complete opposite, thus far, of your brother in so many ways.  Even with your limited speech as a toddler, I love how decisive you are - with your "Yesshhhs...

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 2/9/25

3 Up 1. Eagles Defensive Live - I'm no football aficionado or even a huge fan - but what the Eagles front four on defense did was dominating.  1a. Philadelphia Eagles - Congratulations to Eagles fans and the city of Philadelphia on the Super Bowl win.  2. Kendrick Lamar - I'm sure it'll be controversial - we all knew it would be going in. Throwing my two cents into the arena of public opinion, I thoroughly enjoyed Kendrick's performance. I'm a fan, so that's easy. Tough night to be Drake though. Yikes!  3. Human-Like Teeth in Pigs - Science can be cool. But stories like this are absolutely amazing.  3 Down 1. Plan for Education? - Look, I'm all for cutting wasteful spending from the government. However, I also want to know the plan to replace or support the areas that are being cut. Eliminating the Department of Education? Ok, cool. What's the plan after that? 2. USAID - We live in a VERY blessed country. My heart is with the countries and people who re...
