Dope Sports Threads - Nike City Connect Series (Colorado Rockies)

Look, I'm just going to jump right into this review of the Colorado Rockies City connect jerseys - I'm not a fan. The initial aesthetic at first can be jarring - in a good way - but after it settles in on your eyes (or at least mine), it quickly turns into, what the heck am I looking at. I'm trying to be fair, but overall, the look just carries supreme Sunday-softball-league vibes. Join our squad, we got awesome unis bro!

OK, I'm being over the top, but still...

There is so much to get into for my feelings, but the biggest is the overall theme for the jerseys which are derived from the Colorado state license plate - yes, you read that right. There is no question that Colorado has some dope license plates - after all, we've all done road trips and have somewhat ranked the aesthetics of state vehicle tags. However, carrying that over into jerseys? Is it that representative of the state?!

Now I get it, the team represents the entire state rather than a city as most teams do. And in doing so, they want to capture their base through this project. That's hard enough. However, I wouldn't have been mad if they went the easy route of the state flag - as Colorado has an absolutely awesome state flag. Too cliche? Maybe. At the very least, something historical that we may not be aware of? Mountains feel too easy, especially when the organization's name is in reference to that. Again, anything else. This license plate ordeal just ain't it for me.

However, what may just save this design are the hats. The City Connect series hasn't had many hats that win, and this one definitely is. I really do like the logo and the use of colors to go along with "Colorful Colorado". The green hat with the white facing is a good hat on its own. However, with the rest of the jersey? Again, yup, not feeling this.

The socks are actually really cool. Whatevs.

Again, they tried on the license plate idea. It's unique, just not a fan of the end result.

Nike swung and missed on this one.

Dome Pondering Move Review: Say You Will (2017)

What is it about? A recent high school graduate cares for his mother while attempting to navigate his first relationship following his father's suicide.  Who is in it? Travis Tope - Sam Nimitz Katherine Hughes - Ellie Vaughn Favorite Scene: [spoiler alert] Sam plays his song for his mom. Favorite Quote: Ellie: "I wish we could have met down the road, maybe when we were like 27." Sam: "I think we needed each other now." Review:  Say You Will was an absolutely pleasant surprise of a watch from the Amazon Prime offerings.  I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with this one, but after the credits rolled, it was a movie that provided authentic characters and a great lesson on life. We don't always have to have everything figured out, and it's okay if you don't.  What makes Say You Will so beautiful is that all of the characters are carrying some inner struggle that connects them in the moment and time that helps them through whatever it is. The unlike...

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 2/11/19

3 Up 1. Eva Ramon Gallegos Cure HPV - Could Cervical Cancer be a thing of the past? It very much looks like it as after twenty years of work, Gallegos has found a cure that completely eliminates the cancer. This is remarkable work, and it's pretty awesome to see the Mexican Medical community come together proudly in this achievement. 2. "This is America" Grammy - Finally!! Childish Gambino got some national love for the work he did on this great song, and even more so, on the overall art/video that was "This is America". Of course, he wasn't there to pick it up as the Grammys and their long standing issue with the hip-hop community continues... 3. Women at SOTU - Women continue to be bad ass in the current age. Their solidarity within the Capitol for the President's SOTU was a great sight to see. 3 Down 1. Venezuela Crisis - The country of Venezuela is in absolute shambles right now as they tussle over leadership, and really, a move toward d...

Dome Pondering - 2025 Year in Review

2025 brought depth and growth.  In many ways, 2025 provided so many challenges and opportunities, allowing for a deeper, more layered approach to the world we live in. Our world is changing, and often, not for the better. Over the last 365 days, life has been more complex, more exhausting, and is asking so much more of us through these transitions and nuances than it did 365 days ago.  No big deal, right?  But hey, you're here. We're here. And we're going into 2026 much stronger, whether we realize it or not. But before we do, let's bid adieu to 2025.  As always, I'm incredibly gratefu l to those of you who still visit this little speck of the internet that houses my thoughts, rambles, and learnings. Thank you for taking a break from instant dopamine hits and videos, and likely the much cooler options of prepared content and indulging my humbled words.
