Sunday Sundown Rundown - 7/17/22

1. NASA Webb Telescope Pictures - It's definitely a nerdy thing, but it is also a tremendous wonder to see the photos that came back from NASA's Webb Telescope. The photos, super crisp like we've never seen before, are images that make you wonder how big the Universe is, and truly, how small we are. Just a fantastic image. 

2. Buffalo 'Tops' Reopens - After the hateful shooting that rocked its community, that very Tops Supermarket has reopened in Buffalo. The store serves as an epicenter for that very community, and while it'll be difficult, it's just good to know they are moving forward, rebuilding, and reconnecting. 

3. Bartender Left $4,000 Tip - I'm a sucker for stories of the human spirit and just outright goodwill. Imagine the heart of a single mother bartender when a patron leaves a $4,000 tip on a $176 bill. That's cool stuff.

1. Uvalde Shooting Details - The details and video coming out of the Uvalde Shooting investigation is downright horrific. From upwards of 50 police officers waiting around, to images of some of them on their phones while the shooting is occurring, it's just another layer to the tragedy and an element to the AR-15 safety debate. 

2. 10-Year-Old Abortion Story - If the abortion debate and discussion weren't intense enough, add this horrific story of a 10-year-old girl who was raped needing to travel across state lines for assistance. What felt like an "outlier" argument, quickly became a reality, and furthermore became a realization that this happens far too often. 

Honestly, all of it is just super heartbreaking. 

3. Secret Service Texts - So, the secret service deleted texts regarding the events of January 6th? Yeah, nothing suspicious about that. SMH.

Juan Soto rejecting $440M - Sure, the average annual value is low for a player of his caliber. Sure, fifteen years is a long-time, especially when most of the money is on the backend. And yes, Soto has reservations about signing long-term without knowing who the new owner of the Nationals will be. 

But bruh, at 23, you turned down $440M, guaranteed? That's some guts.

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. Sunday Sundown Rundown - 9/13/26

The Sunday Sundown Rundown (formerly in the format of "3 Up and 3 Down") is where I share thoughts on three topics that piqued my interest, along with my favorite photo from the week. 25th Anniversary of 9/11 It is sort of hard to imagine that it has been twenty-five years since that awful day. It's been fifteen years since I've shared my experience as a High Schooler in Brooklyn, NY , and everything that came with that day (and the many to follow afterwards).  The world changed, and to this day, it still feels hard to grasp what happened (and what transpired with the health of so many afterwards). The lives lost, and the damage done. My son learned about 9/11, and his questions around it ignite some of that struggle with thought around it.  Daddy, how did they get the planes?  Did the building just, like, fall over?  On this 25th anniversary, it is even more concerning to see how the day is also politicized and sometimes weaponized in culture wars. Sunday Sundown Rundown - 9/6/26

The Sunday Sundown Rundown (formerly in the format of "3 Up and 3 Down") is where I share thoughts on three topics that piqued my interest, along with my favorite photo from the week. Chandika Shrestha I found so much of this story this week to be fascinating. Chandika Shrestha, a 64-year-old woman, was found alive - ALIVE! - after ten days below a collapsed house among the Nepal flood wreckage. The human spirit element and the sheer will to survive, combined with what can only be divine intervention. So much there to the spirit of life and an unexplainable reasoning.  Western Michigan vs. Michigan Ending Look, I'm as casual as they come when it comes to the college football space, culture, and fandom.  Nonetheless, somehow, I found myself (with my wife - who has about 3,485 things she would rather do before watching football) watching the final five minutes of this game on Saturday night.
