Sunday Sundown Rundown - 11/27/22

3 Up

1. Thomas James & Richard Fierro - Despite the horror of the recent shooting at the Colorado Night Club, I would be remiss if I didn't give props - and the top "Up" spot - to these two gentlemen who not only served our country in the military at one point in their lives, but also saved many more by taking down the shooter at Club Q. 

Much respect. Much appreciation. 

2. Olivia Pichardo - Does anyone know how difficult D1 baseball is? I don't think many know, understand it, or appreciate it. What Olivia Pichardo has accomplished as a freshmen at Brown University by becoming the first woman to make the roster of a D1 baseball team is damn impressive. She also did it as a walk-on. Wow!

3. Thanksgiving/Holiday Weekend - Whether you celebrated Thanksgiving, or just enjoyed the days off in appreciation of your family and gratitude, I hope the days off were a good one for you and yours.

1. Mass Shootings - I can't say anything else on these. They just need to stop. Stop hurting families. When do we talk about men and their consistency as suspects in these shootings? 

2. Natural Disasters - From India, to Italy, to areas of Africa, and parts of Indonesia, the world saw mudslides, earthquakes, and wildfires. Just pure devastation. 

3. World Cup Riots - I get how important it is to some, especially some nations. But rioting and destroying your country over a loss in the World Cup seems a bit much for me. Again, just me, just saying. 

3 Interesting

1. Beijing Lockdowns - The people of China are nearing their breaking point with COVID restrictions and lockdowns. The fed up base are now revolting and protesting the country's strict laws that have kept them still with limited access as COVID cases rise.

2. US Soccer - Well, we haven't lost! We haven't actually won either (unless you count the moral victory over England). So far, so good. We need a win over Iran on Tuesday. 

3. Cuba Informal Market - This was an interesting read this week as Cuba has taken to the internet to distribute everything from eggs and car parts to liquid ibuprofen. It's not revolutionary (Facebook, market, yeah?), but it is highly interesting for a country like Cuba to suddenly trade and operate via technology with items that are often sanctioned or sold over the counter.

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. Yankees Postseason 2026, ALDS vs. Rays

This is easily the most anticipated series (and most expected?) for the New York Yankees. The two best teams during the regular season were expected to clash to determine American League prominence.  And yes, I agree that this upcoming series says a lot about the broken playoff structure in MLB. Allow me to step onto my soapbox for a mere moment... Up we go... I've never been a fan of the expansion to six teams per league. I understand that it keeps more markets in the playoff picture come September, and it is more revenue for all (likely, the biggest reason for the expansion). Still, all it did was create a scenario where division winners were at a disadvantage, and what we're getting here is the two best teams in the league facing off in a five-game series.  Ultimately, the Tampa Bay Rays, the top seed in the American League, are given the second-best record in their first-round, in a best-of-five?  None of this makes sense.  Stepping off now... TNA Bound For Glory 2026 Review: "They say it's the biggest, so I guess it must be so, Right?"

It's the biggest TNA show of the year!  Or so they say. I've been fighting that moniker for years (hello: Slammiversary), but you know what, I think we're too far in. They say it's the biggest show, so I guess it must be so, right? That said, if this is the biggest show of the year, like Slammiversary, I definitely didn't "feel" the anticipation or aura around Bound For Glory. So many of the storylines and matches leading into this event felt rushed, or at best, incomplete. It's been a trend all year, honestly. And it's an interesting one considering the deletion (deletionnnnnnn - ahhhh!) of the TNA-plus specials.  We can push aside the Order 4 drama, as that has been the best thing going for TNA all year. That felt like the biggest match going into this event, and rightfully so.  Everything else felt like there just could have been more.  Ah well...
