Sunday Sundown Rundown - 2/25/24

3 Up

1. Odysseus Spacecraft - It's pretty cool that the United States is landing on the moon again. Unlike the first time where it gripped the nation, this story feels rather niche. Regardless, still very cool.

2. Beyonce - First black woman to top the country chart. Read that again. That's so awesome. And just another nod to Beyonce's legendary career.

3. Ashwath Kaushik - Imagine being 8 years old and defeating a Chess grandmaster? That's what Kaushik did becoming the youngest player ever to do it. Imagine that? Eight years old!

3 Down

1. National Shortage of Teachers - We are already seeing the teaching profession taking a hit regarding interest and quality. Now, the dilemma gets more complex as more and more teachers are taking advantage of their vacation and sick days, combined with a shortage of substitute teachers.

When I was growing up, subs really had it tough. I can't even imagine what it is like now.

2. Femicide in Kenya - The nation of Kenya is undergoing a horrific wave of killing of women throughout its culture. Activists are starting to speak up, but the statistics (over 20,000) are horrifying.

3. Trump Sneakers - People are paying upward of $9,000 for those kicks. SMH.

3 Interesting

Alabama Frozen Embryos - Interesting new bill in the state of Alabama. My question now is how long before we see multiple frozen embryos by the rich for tax purposes?

Cancellation of Debt - Biden is getting busy with these cancellations. After all, it is an election year.

Republican Primary - I very much expected it. However, I still find it so interesting that Trump is easily winning these state primaries. I'm not sure where the independent or central vote/feel is, but the easy win on the Republican end is interesting, worrisome, and concerning.

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. Would you rather have Giannis Antetokounpo with no driving ability or James Harden with no Three-Point shooting ability?  This is definitely a weird and unique one, but I'll take Harden. Giannis without his strength doesn't offer much. However, if Harden's d...

The Pondering 10 - Yankees All-Decade Team for 2010s

I thought I would stay away from the "all-decade" shenanigans, but I got suckered in after all. Around here, end of year rankings, reviews, and reflections rule, so why not compose a list that embodies it all? And why not put together a list around my beloved Yankees? Especially in a decade in which they DID NOT win the World Series. Gasp! With all of that said, please see below not only my list of the Yankees All-Decade Team (because everyone can filter by position), but also by importance and contribution throughout the decade.

Dome Pondering Movie Review: Without Remorse (2021)

What is it about? A Navy SEAL set out to avenge his wife's murder, only to find himself amidst a much larger international conspiracy.  Who is in it? Michael B. Jordan - John Kelly Jodie Turner-Smith - Karen Greer Jamie Bell - Robert Ritter Favorite Scene:  [spoiler alert] After finally confronting Rykov, the team engages in an all-out confrontation with snipers and local police in an attempt to escape alive.  Favorite Quote: "I'll show them what a pawn can do to a king." Review: I finally watched Without Remorse. Because it's an Amazon original film, I may have taken its availability for granted. During a week I had some time off from the World, I finally watched it, and I wasn't disappointed.  For starters, I'm not a huge Tom Clancy aficionado, so my review is coming from a casual. But I do love a good thriller, especially from that of a rogue government official turned independent spy. Long live Jason Bourne.  Without Remorse, should there be a sequel, ...
