Sunday Sundown Rundown - 6/16/24

3 Up

1. Father's Day - Happy Father's Day to so many fathers out there who sacrifice, extend themselves, worry, step outside themselves, and so much more, to raise decent human beings for the next generation.

2. Elijah Hogan - This story renewed so much faith in me in regards to working hard, the ambition of today's generation, and so much in regards to social mobility by means of education. I have to admit, I started losing faith in the midst of today's climate. Elijah Hogan is a tremendous story and an inspiration.

3. Jerry West - West was an absolute legend within the basketball (and sports) circles - that's obvious. Remembering him this week, however, returned a failing discourse (and common trend) in and about basketball about past generations and tired tropes. We've forgotten to embrace greatness, and in a way, West was a reminder of that.

3 Down

1. Bump Stock Decision - Well, I can't say I'm surprised. Sandy Hook was the (and remains) the moment this country decided its fate on the gun control debate.

2. Gaza War - This can be a "down" every week - obviously. For me, this week, with Father's Day and all of the children this "war" has claimed, I'm thinking about the dads and children over there in the Gaza region.

3. Clarence Thomas Paid Trips - All I can do is shake my head. Lobbying a Supreme Court Justice is something...

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. Would you rather have Giannis Antetokounpo with no driving ability or James Harden with no Three-Point shooting ability?  This is definitely a weird and unique one, but I'll take Harden. Giannis without his strength doesn't offer much. However, if Harden's d...

The Pondering 10 - Yankees All-Decade Team for 2010s

I thought I would stay away from the "all-decade" shenanigans, but I got suckered in after all. Around here, end of year rankings, reviews, and reflections rule, so why not compose a list that embodies it all? And why not put together a list around my beloved Yankees? Especially in a decade in which they DID NOT win the World Series. Gasp! With all of that said, please see below not only my list of the Yankees All-Decade Team (because everyone can filter by position), but also by importance and contribution throughout the decade.

Dome Pondering Movie Review: Without Remorse (2021)

What is it about? A Navy SEAL set out to avenge his wife's murder, only to find himself amidst a much larger international conspiracy.  Who is in it? Michael B. Jordan - John Kelly Jodie Turner-Smith - Karen Greer Jamie Bell - Robert Ritter Favorite Scene:  [spoiler alert] After finally confronting Rykov, the team engages in an all-out confrontation with snipers and local police in an attempt to escape alive.  Favorite Quote: "I'll show them what a pawn can do to a king." Review: I finally watched Without Remorse. Because it's an Amazon original film, I may have taken its availability for granted. During a week I had some time off from the World, I finally watched it, and I wasn't disappointed.  For starters, I'm not a huge Tom Clancy aficionado, so my review is coming from a casual. But I do love a good thriller, especially from that of a rogue government official turned independent spy. Long live Jason Bourne.  Without Remorse, should there be a sequel, ...
