The Last Decision - Why Lebron to Philly is Amazing


LeBron finally made his last decision, and yet, at 41 years old, in the year of our lord, 2026 - here we all are with our own opinion on his next chapter. It's quite amazing. The run. The career. The longevity of relevance. All of it.

Sooooooooo, he's headed to the Philadelphia 76ers. [commence rant and hot takes]

Not really. I gave the "Last Decision," as dubbed by James, some time to breathe, to take in the reality of it, the basketball side, and of course, the sports discourse, and I find myself with the following reaction: 

LeBron James is amazing. 

That's it?! Come on, bro!

Really, that is it. That's it! 

At first, I thought the Knicks' championship still had me delirious (Knicks in five, babayyy!). But as time went on and the discussions roared, annoyed, and carried on into some tired themes and rhetoric, I kept finding myself back in a place of awe and amazement at the entire thing.

This dude is 41 years old, and he is still dictating so much of the discussion and impacting meaningful basketball decisions in the NBA. Most athletes, even the most elite that we've seen in our lifetime, at this age are holding on for one more year or are a source of uncomfortable discussions in many ways.

LeBron James just held up NBA Free Agency as other players awaited him to make his decision and evolve the current market. LeBron James just signed a two-year deal (not one, but two!). And yes, we're all talking about LeBron again with Sixers games set to dominate national television coverage for the upcoming 26-27 season. 

Hold the conversation on your "who's the next face" debates - Isn't LeBron still the needle mover? Love him? Hate him? He feeds an entire industry of talking heads alone. 

I'll still stand by my thoughts and feelings from "The Decision" (and yes, I was also very hurt he didn't sign with the Knicks - old posts are always interesting for me to read - what was I thinking?). However, for the "Last Decision", it was a subtle X post, so opposite of the polished and produced sit-down special from 2010. It was raw. 

Everyone has strong feelings about LeBron. Whatever that is for you, there is just something special about this very Last Decision. We've never seen anything like it. 

It's amazing. 

A few other quick thoughts on LeBron to Philly:
  • For what it's worth - which is just some space on this blog and my opinion out into the universe - I was hoping for a LeBron return to Cleveland. Yes, I was for the sappy full circle story. 
  • Another level to how mind-blowing this all has been is that sources claim (oh boy...) LeBron's camp reached out to the New York Kni...excuse me, the NBA CHAMPION New York Knicks, with them replying, "thanks, we good". That's beautiful. What a time for us Knicks fans. 
  • I hinted at it above, but the Jordan vs. LeBron comparisons and discussions are so tired. Give it a rest. 
  • Another front I don't understand is the claim that he joined a team that he can make a championship run with. There are many defenses to this, but my sole salient point is this: why else would any 41-year-old continue to play if not for one final run? That's not LeBron-specific- that's for ANY aging NBA superstar or legend. 
  • Here's another hot take I've learned from all of this - the current landscape of sports discussion has snuffed out appreciation for the greatness of all. 
  • Just putting it out there - I still despise the Sixers. Nonetheless, those games will be fun. 
  • LeBron back in Los Angeles is going to be theater. That should be the 5:00pm Christmas game.
  • Finally, so many kudos to Brian Windhorst for saying what many hoop heads have felt - the Jordan vs. James discourse has become one of the dumbest things about the NBA. Thank you, Brian.

The Pondering 10 - Yankees All-Decade Team for 2010s

I thought I would stay away from the "all-decade" shenanigans, but I got suckered in after all. Around here, end of year rankings, reviews, and reflections rule, so why not compose a list that embodies it all? And why not put together a list around my beloved Yankees? TNA Lockdown 2026 Review: "Sign me up for more Order 4 drama"

Lockdown turned into a really fun show for me. And that always was the case when the event was a normal thing. It's had its historic clunkiness (electric cage match anyone?), but that's pro wrestling, baby! But seriously, Lockdown didn't feel like much until the last few weeks. Maybe it was the creative change, but the show came about with a strong undercard over several weeks carried (in my opinion) by Mustafa Ali vs. Jason Hotch and Cedric Alexander vs. Leon Slater. The main event felt more so on name value than storyline, but that didn't carry too much through the night.  For me, the main event of this was always Mustafa Ali vs. Jason Hotch, and that did not disappoint.   --- Random Tidbits Lots of "cage" talk going into this one, and quite honestly, it was warranted.
