Dome Pondering Movie Review: Bolt (2008)

What's it about?

Bolt, a dog who believes he has super powers due to his role on a television show faces reality after being displaced. He struggles with adjusting to life without these powers and learning to live life as a normal dog. The adventure opens his eyes to a world beyond the trailer where he was kept, as he gained new friends, and learned to depend and trust others.

Who is in it?

John Travolta - Bolt

Miley Cyrus - Penny

Susie Essman - Mittens

Mark Walton - Rhino

Favorite Scene

After being displaced in the middle of nowhere, Bolt's stomach begins to grumble and ache. He blames Mittens, who he believes is "evil", of placing an antidote (a Styrofoam peanut used for packaging) in him to weaken his powers. Mittens, who at the time was held captive by Bolt, begins using a Styrofoam peanut as a weapon to threaten Bolt.

Favorite Quote

Bolt: "Okay. So what we do here is we give the target a quick flyover, we adjust the trahectory, and then land dead center. Am I missing anything, Rhino?"

Rhino: "Just the knowldge that every minute spent in your company becomes the new greatest minute of my life!"

Review

Bolt is another animated Disney movie that most have campy and childish expectations heading into it. However, in the end, it leaves you entertained and overwhelmingly surprised. Bolt offers a compelling storyline, great characters, and lots of humor in a film that does not have any down time. A great beginning captures the viewers interest and creates a swerve that serves as the foundation for the rest of the movie. Overall, Bolt is a great watch, and on par with most of Disney's animation greats.

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. Would you rather have Giannis Antetokounpo with no driving ability or James Harden with no Three-Point shooting ability?  This is definitely a weird and unique one, but I'll take Harden. Giannis without his strength doesn't offer much. However, if Harden's d...

WWE SummerSlam 2026 Review: "Oba is made in the shade" & Roman vs. Seth Captures Magic

I can't say I was excited about SummerSlam heading into the event. Some storylines have moved me, but, much like pro wrestling in 2026, it feels like yet another incomplete creative vehicle (some good, some bad), with the hope that the event itself will overcome the shortcomings of the hype.  Admittedly, WWE could pull this off this weekend with some memorable moments (and outcomes), specifically from the two main title matches and from Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar. Maybe a return or two as well. Chances are, they likely will.  Personally, I have Penta vs. Chad Gable circled. I might be the only one, I know.  Nonetheless, happy SummerSlam weekend, everyone.  --- Random Tidbits Is it me, or were the overall vibes going into this year's SummerSlam just...well, off? I've already cited build, but there was just something else...ah well.  I know attendance is always a discussion point, but 30K+ is still pretty dam impressive for each night.  The stage was VERY impr...

Dome Pondering Movie Review: Good Posture (2019)

What is it about?  A young woman, stumped by laziness, unaccountability, and a lack of guidance, comes of age through an encounter with a closed-off writer.  Who is in it? Grace Van Patten - Lillian Emily Mortimer - Julia Price Favorite Scene: Julia runs into Nate and his new girlfriend.  Favorite Quote: "Lillian, desperate for affirmation, how deep does it go? Review: Good Posture was an impulse add to my "Watch List" on Amazon Prime, and I finally got around to watching.  The film is a mixed bag, ripe for a deep connection through so many opportunities, yet shallow in other areas of character development and plot. Don't get me wrong, Good Posture is a decent film; for the nerds, you'll get "Finding Forrester" vibes but not quite the same impact. Good Posture leaves it up to the imagination regarding the characters, and in some aspects, how they truly connect. There are a lot of subtleties that are unexplained (intentional or not) that do make you wond...
