365 Thought Provoking Questions. Answered: #130-145

130. Why do you matter?

I matter because there are people that love, care, and value me for who I am. From my wife, my parents, my friends, those who I've come across in my life, and kids who I have coached.

131. How have you changed in the last five years?

How have I not changed? Sorry for the rhetorical question-answer, but it is pretty obvious. I've graduated from college and grad school and have gotten engaged and married for starters. The most important change has been my maturity and growth as an adult. Also, I'm a little less naive in believing in others, and overall, much more confident in myself as a person.

132. What are you sure of in your life?

I'm sure that I am not afraid of death. I'm sure of my home for eternity.

Everything else, I'm learning and realizing on the fly.

133. When you think of ‘home,’ what, specifically, do you think of?

I think of Brooklyn, NY. Greatest place on earth. More specifically, I think of Canarsie, the neighborhood where I spent most of my years growing up, and all of the memories, feelings, and lessons I endured during that time.

134. What’s the difference between settling for things and accepting the way things are?

Settling for things is acknowledging there is more to a specific situation, but for a specific reason, you choose not to pursue it. Accepting things the way they are is realizing that you have very little control of a situation, and are willing to seek the very best of it.

135. How many of your friends would you trust with your life?

Umm...wow.

Considering most of my friends are usually late, unresponsive to phone calls, texts, and e-mails, and can sometimes be irresponsible, I guess very few. Maybe, one or two, maximum.

136. What’s your definition of heaven?

Spending eternity with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Hopefully, that includes playing softball and basketball, and I'm sure it'll be pain free. My knees and legs can't wait!

137. What is your most prized possession?

Most likely my car. It's worth the most, needed, and represents the biggest purchase I've ever made to this point in my life.

138. How would you describe yourself in one sentence?

Simply awesome. ha!

Seriously, as the headline tag states, as I try to make sense of things, life looks on in repose.

139. What stands between you and happiness?

Myself. Happiness is not attained or reached. It's a sense of finding peace.

140. What makes a person beautiful?

If they are attractive, duh! Vanity doesn't make a person. I'd take a strong character over beauty any day.

141. Is there ever a time when giving up makes sense?

Yes, when the overall reward isn't worth the risk of continuing.

142. What makes you proud?

There are a few things:

1. Watching others that are close to me perform well, achieve an accomplishment, or improve themselves for the better.
2. Accomplishing a task or a goal others believed or said I could not do (I'm big on negative reinforcement as mentioned in prior posts).
3. And finally, doing the right thing, when the right thing isn't necessarily the easiest or popular choice...

...which leads to...

143. How do you find the strength to do what you know in your heart is right?

My conscience and overall guilt. I've always had a very, very convicting conscience. Always. It's definitely that loud voice in your head and that feeling in the pit of your stomach that continues to alert you to make things right, even if it was very difficult to do so.

144. Where do you find peace?

My faith.

145. When have you worked hard and loved every minute of it?

College Baseball for sure. And the other would be working on several projects at work related topics of enjoyment such as the NFL Draft Play 60 Clinic, NY Red Bulls open practice, and scheduling athletic facilities.

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. Would you rather have Giannis Antetokounpo with no driving ability or James Harden with no Three-Point shooting ability?  This is definitely a weird and unique one, but I'll take Harden. Giannis without his strength doesn't offer much. However, if Harden's d...

3 Up 1. Eva Ramon Gallegos Cure HPV - Could Cervical Cancer be a thing of the past? It very much looks like it as after twenty years of work, Gallegos has found a cure that completely eliminates the cancer. This is remarkable work, and it's pretty awesome to see the Mexican Medical community come together proudly in this achievement. 2. "This is America" Grammy - Finally!! Childish Gambino got some national love for the work he did on this great song, and even more so, on the overall art/video that was "This is America". Of course, he wasn't there to pick it up as the Grammys and their long standing issue with the hip-hop community continues... 3. Women at SOTU - Women continue to be bad ass in the current age. Their solidarity within the Capitol for the President's SOTU was a great sight to see. 3 Down 1. Venezuela Crisis - The country of Venezuela is in absolute shambles right now as they tussle over leadership, and really, a move toward d...

3 Up 1. MLB Players Weekend - The (insane) traditionalists had a problem with it, but the weekend produced plenty of fun games and moments, and gave fans and players a really cool weekend to be themselves and enjoy the game. I have a ton of stuff to share in the next Dope Sports Threads. Overall, can't wait for the next one... 2. MTV VMA's - Look, there were moments I had no idea what was going on, and I thought Katy Perry was incredibly awkward as the host. However, the moments that promoted fights against hate and empowered people to be themselves were awesome. Especially, Pink's speech - such good stuff. The VMA's still have plenty of work to do though under their new management. 3. Giancarlo Stanton - I think he just hit another home run. The guy has 50(!) and we're not into September, yet. Can he hit 63? Should be interesting going forward if he can stay hot.  3 Down 1. Hurricane Harvey - The devastation and flooding going on in South Texas...
