The European Chronicles - 6/5/14

Day Ten.

Capri, Italy.

Oh Capri, how you offer such a stunning view that it can soothe even the troubled soul. Every turn, every twist, every move, the island of Capri leaves you with a cliff, a hangover, an overhang, or a simple platform to view the Mediterranean sea, the rocks, the beaches, and all that surrounds this wonderful island. It's the kind of view that will put everyone at ease. The kind of view this overworked collegiate athletics professional needed after a long academic year. Ahhhhhhhhhh, serenity!

As usual, we took a short tour in the morning which was okay, but our group seemed more enamored with the views the museum provided. New perspectives. Same amazing view. Yes, serenity now!

Following the tour, we all went back down to the harbor to take a cruise around the island in a speed boat. If you think serenity couldn't get better, my goodness it did. It very well did. I'm typing these very words with mental images of how great this ride was.

We cruised around the island taking in the cavernous caves, the blue waters, the sun, and just enjoying Capri and all the wind and air of the sea that came with it. Ic an't describe this at all. I can't put this into words. A personal favorite moment for me since this adventure began.

We finished up with the usual group dinner at a spectacular place. With yes, another four course meal and lots of wine.

Not much of a packed schedule, but with two more days, there isn't much left to do. Plus, we're all exhausted from our expedition of the entire country. Italy in 11 days! Just thinking about that is amazing.

Here are some quick photos from today. Click to enlarge them.

Tomorrow is our last day. We're off to Sorrento, then Pasitano and the Amalfi Coast which should be good. Just when we've really dug ourselves into the culture, the language, and the certain quirks like expecting to pay to use public restrooms (takes a while to get used to), it's all over.

One more day in Italy. Looking to make it a good one.

Predictions and Wild Guesses for the 2025 MLB Season

Well, after that off-season where the Dodgers deferred enough money to build the Athletics a new ballpark, it's time for the remaining fanbases who don't have Guggenheim money to hope for the best. Even with Opening Day finally here, it's the only time of the year we can actually pretend everyone has a chance, and hope feels, well, somewhat authentic.  White Sox fans, how are we feeling?  As we do every year around these parts, I'm throwing out some predictions and wild guesses for the upcoming MLB 2025 season.  Good luck, White Sox.  --- STANDINGS (WIN) AL EAST  Yankees - 92 Red Sox - 90 Orioles - 88 Rays - 85 Blue Jays - 82 AL CENTRAL Royals - 90 Tigers - 90 Guardians - 88 Twins - 87 White Sox - 65 AL WEST Rangers - 92 Astros - 92 Athletics - 86 Mariners - 85 Angels - 77 NL EAST Phillies - 94 Mets - 92 Braves - 88 Nationals - 78 Marlins - 75 NL CENTRAL Cubs - 88 Brewers - 88 Reds - 87 Pirates - 83 Cardinals - 80 NL WEST Dodgers - 96 Diamondbacks - 90 Padres - ...
