Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/14/17

3 Up

1. Derek Jeter Ceremony - What a well done ceremony by the New York Yankees this evening. Despite the score of the actual game, the Yankees put on quite a show that honored Jeter. Very few in sports can do it like the Yanks, and they proved this to be true.

2. Bryce Harper - Not only has Harper been raking this season, he just set a record with an arbitration agreement that will pay hime $21M for the 2018 season - the highest salary ever. And we forget, Harper is still younger than most of the "young" talent we are holding as the future of the game. The free agent bidding war in the winter of 2018 is going to be madness.

3. Melissa McCarthy - Her role as Sean Spicer is downright hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. Honestly, her role has been able to take what has been an absolute disaster and turn it into some comedy. IF Spicer does get let go (rumored, of course), I'm pretty sure this will just add to the over-the-top character of Spicer that she plays.

3 Down

1. Comey Firing - I was torn on where to place this. On one hand, many felt Comey should be fired, or really, never have been selected. Now that he's actualy fired, those same people are complaining. But I do agree, I do find it very convenient for the current President to get rid of the former FBI Director who was investigating him. Can't make this stuff up. And we're still only five months into this thing...

2. Bethune-Cookman - Of course FOX News painted the graduates of Bethune-Cookman as the bad guys in this situation. Truthfully, why is Betsy DeVos a commencement speaker, or really, at any institution's ceremony? Especially, at a HBCU which the current administration is already on record in not supporting. Shame on Bethune-Cookman administration. I don't blame the students and those in attendance at all. At all.

3. LaVar Ball Coverage - The following comment is a bit contradictive - but why are news outlets and other carriers continuing to give free publicity to this guy? Seriously, why? Again, I respect his intentions for entrepreneurship, but the outlandish comments are too over the top for my taste. With that said, Lonzo Ball becoming a New York Knick would just be one of those Knick-ish things to happen.

Predictions and Wild Guesses for the 2025 MLB Season

Well, after that off-season where the Dodgers deferred enough money to build the Athletics a new ballpark, it's time for the remaining fanbases who don't have Guggenheim money to hope for the best. Even with Opening Day finally here, it's the only time of the year we can actually pretend everyone has a chance, and hope feels, well, somewhat authentic.  White Sox fans, how are we feeling?  As we do every year around these parts, I'm throwing out some predictions and wild guesses for the upcoming MLB 2025 season.  Good luck, White Sox.  --- STANDINGS (WIN) AL EAST  Yankees - 92 Red Sox - 90 Orioles - 88 Rays - 85 Blue Jays - 82 AL CENTRAL Royals - 90 Tigers - 90 Guardians - 88 Twins - 87 White Sox - 65 AL WEST Rangers - 92 Astros - 92 Athletics - 86 Mariners - 85 Angels - 77 NL EAST Phillies - 94 Mets - 92 Braves - 88 Nationals - 78 Marlins - 75 NL CENTRAL Cubs - 88 Brewers - 88 Reds - 87 Pirates - 83 Cardinals - 80 NL WEST Dodgers - 96 Diamondbacks - 90 Padres - ...
