Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/7/18

3 Up

1. Philadelphia Starbucks Men - Kudos to these two men were clear examples of what it's like to be black in America. Yet, instead of taking advantage and exploiting the situation for themselves, they used it for good by having the settlement invest in the youth. My hats off to these men. Bravo.

2. "This is America" Video - This was incredibly deep. Every time I watch the video, I hear something new, and see something new in the video that exemplifies today's America. Such a great film.

3. MLB Records and Feats - So much happened this week. Ichiro's "retirement". Pujols collecting his 3,000th hit. No-hitters. 15+ strikeout games. Baseball was full of crazy feats and moments this week. The season is just getting better.

3 Down

1. Kanye Slavery Comment - Choice, huh? What kills me is not this coming from Kanye, but many who are now using his words are firepower to diminish the impact of slavery on this nation, and offer legitimization to their agenda. We saw it this week with Fox News clamoring that rappers "Trump". SMH.

2. WNBA White House Snub - Anyone notice the WNBA Champions, The Minnesota Lynx, have yet to be invited to the White House? And yes, it's probably the because of the obvious...gender.

3. Matt Harvey - Damn. I feel for Mets fans. But really, Harvey didn't make this entire situation easy on the organization, it's fans, or this city. It's always been about Harvey with Harvey. Always. Such a long fall from grace...

3 Up 1. Eva Ramon Gallegos Cure HPV - Could Cervical Cancer be a thing of the past? It very much looks like it as after twenty years of work, Gallegos has found a cure that completely eliminates the cancer. This is remarkable work, and it's pretty awesome to see the Mexican Medical community come together proudly in this achievement. 2. "This is America" Grammy - Finally!! Childish Gambino got some national love for the work he did on this great song, and even more so, on the overall art/video that was "This is America". Of course, he wasn't there to pick it up as the Grammys and their long standing issue with the hip-hop community continues... 3. Women at SOTU - Women continue to be bad ass in the current age. Their solidarity within the Capitol for the President's SOTU was a great sight to see. 3 Down 1. Venezuela Crisis - The country of Venezuela is in absolute shambles right now as they tussle over leadership, and really, a move toward d...

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 2/9/25

3 Up 1. Eagles Defensive Live - I'm no football aficionado or even a huge fan - but what the Eagles front four on defense did was dominating.  1a. Philadelphia Eagles - Congratulations to Eagles fans and the city of Philadelphia on the Super Bowl win.  2. Kendrick Lamar - I'm sure it'll be controversial - we all knew it would be going in. Throwing my two cents into the arena of public opinion, I thoroughly enjoyed Kendrick's performance. I'm a fan, so that's easy. Tough night to be Drake though. Yikes!  3. Human-Like Teeth in Pigs - Science can be cool. But stories like this are absolutely amazing.  3 Down 1. Plan for Education? - Look, I'm all for cutting wasteful spending from the government. However, I also want to know the plan to replace or support the areas that are being cut. Eliminating the Department of Education? Ok, cool. What's the plan after that? 2. USAID - We live in a VERY blessed country. My heart is with the countries and people who re...

Dear Son, Uniquely Two!

--- 2 Years Old --- Dear Son,  Happy Birthday! I have to get used to you sharing a birthday with Jesus - that's still no easy thing to do.  However, you're now two years old! And while I write this, you haven't really been able to celebrate, more so your birthday. At a mere two years old, you're rife with germs and succumbed to a nasty bug, rendering you sick on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day (your birthday), and the days to follow. Everyone here for the holidays was unable to give you that moment, and really, we weren't able to get that moment on your second birthday.  The day aside, I'm grateful for the little guy that you are. In one of my previous notes to you, I mentioned " That's Milo " and you've continued to express that. You're very unique - a character in every way. The complete opposite, thus far, of your brother in so many ways.  Even with your limited speech as a toddler, I love how decisive you are - with your "Yesshhhs...
