Sunday Sundown Rundown - 6/4/23

1. Debt Limit Bill - As admitted over the past few weeks, I'm not even going to pretend I fully understand the scope of the situation. I get the basics, and why it's crucial - check that - super important. Good to see our government can get things done without lashing out against one another. 

2. Dev Shah - I'm always in awe of the students participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Shout out to Dev (super cool name) Shah from Largo Florida who won the entire thing. 

3. Added Jobs to the Economy - We keep anticipating a downturn in the economy, yet the wacky job market, as crazy as it is, added almost 400K jobs. That's, well, good, right?

1. 16-Year-Old Death in India - A 16-year-old girl was stabbed and bludgeoned to death by her boyfriend - in full view of bystanders and pedestrians. Not one said or did anything. The unfortunate story has drawn ire and attention to India and its approach to violence towards women. Ugh, super sad. 

2. YouTube False Claims Check - Google has decided to no longer take down false claims about U.S. Elections in uploaded videos. The fact-checking is nice, but without the warning, I can't imagine the political space improving. 

3. Presidential Race - Christine is in. Pence is in. Why does it feel like the EXACT SAME cast chasing the Presidency for the past decade?

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. Yankees Postseason 2026, ALDS vs. Rays

This is easily the most anticipated series (and most expected?) for the New York Yankees. The two best teams during the regular season were expected to clash to determine American League prominence.  And yes, I agree that this upcoming series says a lot about the broken playoff structure in MLB. Allow me to step onto my soapbox for a mere moment... Up we go... I've never been a fan of the expansion to six teams per league. I understand that it keeps more markets in the playoff picture come September, and it is more revenue for all (likely, the biggest reason for the expansion). Still, all it did was create a scenario where division winners were at a disadvantage, and what we're getting here is the two best teams in the league facing off in a five-game series.  Ultimately, the Tampa Bay Rays, the top seed in the American League, are given the second-best record in their first-round, in a best-of-five?  None of this makes sense.  Stepping off now... TNA Bound For Glory 2026 Review: "They say it's the biggest, so I guess it must be so, Right?"

It's the biggest TNA show of the year!  Or so they say. I've been fighting that moniker for years (hello: Slammiversary), but you know what, I think we're too far in. They say it's the biggest show, so I guess it must be so, right? That said, if this is the biggest show of the year, like Slammiversary, I definitely didn't "feel" the anticipation or aura around Bound For Glory. So many of the storylines and matches leading into this event felt rushed, or at best, incomplete. It's been a trend all year, honestly. And it's an interesting one considering the deletion (deletionnnnnnn - ahhhh!) of the TNA-plus specials.  We can push aside the Order 4 drama, as that has been the best thing going for TNA all year. That felt like the biggest match going into this event, and rightfully so.  Everything else felt like there just could have been more.  Ah well...
