Sunday Sundown Rundown - 4/17/22

1. Easter Weekend - I love Easter weekend for the mere sentiment of what it represents - the death of Christ and of course, the resurrection on Sunday. Not big on the Bunny guy, but eh, what are you going to do? 

Also, Happy Passover and Ramadan to those who celebrate within those faiths. 

2. Brooklyn Residents - Not only did Brooklyn residents display resolve after the shooting that occurred on Wednesday, but five residents helped lead police to the suspect. I'm biased as a native Brooklynite, but the spirit of the city following moments like this is powerful. Props to those individuals who led the police to the suspect. 

3. Amazon Union - A couple of weeks ago I shared this development in the "Interesting" section for the SSR. However, now I'm giving it an "up" as union discussion have now permeated throughout various Amazon warehouses. I'm not pro-union (or even anti-union), I simply find the entire ordeal to be fascinating. One worker grinding and now possibly changing the working experience of the mega powerhouse that is Amazon...just crazy.

1. BK Subway Shooting - This week's event of course, certainly hits home for yours truly. As someone with family and friends there, as well as working in the city on a daily basis, occurrences of individuals plotting with equipment to do such actions are unnerving. Especially in the Subway, a place we all frequent daily. Just crazy...

1a. Easter Weekend Mass Shootings - By the way, just this weekend we watched three mass shootings occur - two in South Carolina and one in Pittsburgh. For real, what is wrong with our society? 

2. Brian Benjamin Resignation - Politicians are such crooks. So many of them. I feel no sympathy for Benjamin. It's becoming more difficult to trust our process and the people within our government. 

3. Food Inflation - For the first time since 1981, we are experiencing an 8% rise in the cost of our food goods. This is absurd. SMH.

Elon Musk Bids on Twitter - I'm not sure I have an account of just how rich Elon Musk is. I'm not sure I can wrap my mind around the idea of simply deciding I may buy Twitter (!) - you know, that multi-billion dollar company. Just buy it. Because I want to. What?!

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. I thought I would stay away from the "all-decade" shenanigans, but I got suckered in after all. Around here, end of year rankings, reviews, and reflections rule, so why not compose a list that embodies it all? And why not put together a list around my beloved Yankees? Especially in a decade in which they DID NOT win the World Series. Gasp! Sunday Sundown Rundown - 8/9/26

The Sunday Sundown Rundown (formerly in the format of "3 Up and 3 Down") is where I share thoughts on three topics that piqued my interest, along with my favorite photo from the week. WNBA Madness Welp, the WNBA has found itself in the middle of a culture war after the satirical (hopefully?) video of Enes Freedom (fka Kanter) declaring for the upcoming WNBA Draft. The WNBA continues to be a super fascinating entity. As likely this country's premier women's league, it has been the root of so many discussions - this one being the "protection of women in sports".  Here are ten super quick ponderings on this:  The WNBA has made its identity over the years as being extremely vocal in the political space.
