Quick Ponder: Man Love

AEW Full Gear 2024 Review: "the potential that resides in this company"

I attended my first AEW show in Full Gear 2024, as the event made its way to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The event was even more special as it was the very first live wrestling event for my son who has very much caught the wrestling bug. One would think being around my interests would be the spark, but I genuinely believe he understands the beauty and magic that is pro wrestling. All of it is evident in his "universe" within his wrestling action figures and his constant intrigue in searching throughout Peacock and TNA+.  All of that to say, neither of us are big AEW viewers. Yes, I have my gripes with the company which I'll share. Also, AEW isn't the most suitable for a six-year-old to watch, so there's that. As a dad, I appreciate WWE and TNA's approach to their product. It doesn't have to be PG, but feeling comfortable leaving my son in front of your product unattended is a big plus. Again, more on this... Back to AEW Full Gear, it was a...

Tyson vs. Paul - Great for the Sport, Bad for the Sport

I'm glad that I got to watch the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano fight. It was the kind of fight that I thought captured what old boxing fans (not casuals) like myself loved about the sport. Grit. Blood. Power. And a little bit of no blocking and chaos involved. Both women put it all on the line. And while the outcome was everything so many dislike about boxing, the sketchy results didn't quite take away from what we witnessed.  Loved it.  I figured I would just get that out of the way. Because, whether we want to admit it or not, we all fired up our Netflix account, and suffered through some frustrating buggering and lagging times with the occasional black screens telling us that we had no internet connection, JUST to see what would happen. We ultimately knew what would happen.  Suckers. All of us. Every. Single. One. Of. Us.  Depending on your expectations, you're likely further in your feelings if you had more of them for this fight. As a pro wrestling fan, I like...

Trump Wins.

I can't say that I'm surprised.  This week, I purposely took some time to take in the moment, the time in history, and even those around me - strangers and known individuals - to understand it all. The hours and days after I awoke from going to bed purposefully (I was under the weather) to awake to an alert on my phone - DONALD TRUMP ELECTED 47th PRESIDENT - not once did I feel shocked. In fact, I'm not sure that I felt anything at all.  I said to my wife heading into election day, I very much don't blame anyone for voting for him in this election. I'm not a big Trump guy. I gave him a chance in 2016, and well, I'll do so again in 2025. I have no choice. However, after watching Kamala's run toward the election, granted, it was short and abbreviated (somewhat forced), it was hard to understand. The celebrities. The counter-rallys. For a party that said the right lost themselves, how could it be, that the party of the working class was trying to persuade my vo...
