Quick Ponder: Locked In Expressway

I can see the expressway  for my son to manhood,  become clearer as the days go by.  Locked in on creating as many  meaningful exits, before that destination.

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 7/28/24

3 Up 1. Missouri Overturns Conviction - These stories and cases always strike a chord with me. Spending more than thirty years in prison for a crime you did not commit carries sooooo many layers of human grace. Especially once you add that he evaded execution in 2017. Ugh... But of course, there is the prison that refuses to release him .  2. Biden Steps Down - I noted some thoughts earlier this week on this . No political agenda here - I actually wish both Biden and Trump stepped down. The country needs new faces and new leadership. I don't think it fixes the current divide, but it surely doesn't solve it via Biden or Trump.  3. NBA on NBC - It was a small commercial for USA Basketball with the old "Round Ball Rock" theme playing against it. Suddenly my childhood came back. But really, the NBA on NBC just hits differently. Looking forward to those Sunday tripleheaders again.  3 Down 1. Drug Dealers Captured - U.S. Federal Agents have captured one of the world's ...

TNA Slammiversary 2024 Review: "Oh, ok! Sooooo, where are we going next?"

It's Slammiversary! TNA's biggest - is it? - premium live event of the year!  I know it's really Bound For Glory...so the company says. But historically, Slammiversary has the better record, so whatevs... Regardless, TNA has had an interesting build to this show and while I wasn't too crazy about the funky way that we got here, it didn't deter me from being excited for the show, the expectations, and overall, the anticipated fun the company has been providing.  TNA's premium live events haven't been much of a letdown (sans Under Siege) and this is surely no different. Slammiversary was great wrestling, with great moments, and in many ways, very unpredictable.  Like, the kind of unpredictable that truly leaves you like - oh, ok! Sooooo, where are we going next? My biggest gripe with this event was the length. Man, this was long! I found myself doing the internal concern over the 11:00pm hour approaching, and even once they passed it, I was zapped.  I'm al...

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 7/21/24

3 Up 1. Biden Drops Out of Race - I think this needed to be done. I always wondered why Biden rallied for re-election and ultimately, why the Dems allowed him to seek it. More importantly, the optics from the 1st Presidential debate resonated loudly with what many do feel - we must have other candidates, right? Well, now we do. Thankfully, Biden stepped aside.  2. WNBA All-Star Game - Could the WNBA All-Star Game be the last entertaining version that exists? The game was competitive, felt like it meant something, and overall, had a substance that was worth the All-Star feel. Great job from the W.  3. Taylor Swift - Taylor is always in some space of epic accomplishments. After dominating 2023, she's doing it again in 2024 in a quiet way via her latest album, "The Tortured Poets Department" which topped the Billboard 200 for the 12th week in a row.  3 Down 1. California (Newsome) Law - There is nothing I like about this law passed by Governor Newsome. Nothing. What happene...

Biden is Out, the Drama Continues

I didn't think he would do it. I really didn't. Yet, here we are. Biden is out. Enter, Kamala Harris?  As the ongoing saga that has been full of theatrics and twists, turns, and shocking moments thus far, the 2024 Presidential Race is set for yet another chapter as we all stumble toward November.  Ugh... DEMS FUMBLED  I'm sure this will turn around because our memories in the political space have surely shortened. Or, we just don't care and want who we want. And yes, that's dangerous.  But the idea that Democrats, mainly Joe Biden, thought that he would be able to give it a go for another four years is thought-provoking on so many levels. And in various ways, why so many have issues with politics, mainly career politicians.  He was a transitional President. It should have been. And the Dems had four years to get the next person ready. And now, they're likely launching Kamala into this thing.  DEBATE NIGHTMARE It's confirmed known - the first Presidential de...

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 7/14/24

3 Up 1. Corey Comperatore - In a divided country, these moments make us realize that maybe (hopefully?) things have gone too far. Comperatore died shielding his family from the gunfire in the Trump's Assassination attempt. It's so commendable, and also, so sad. We've gotta be better.  2. Michael Bloomberg Johns Hopkins Gift - Kudos to Bloomberg on donating $1 Billion dollars to Johns Hopkins in order to give medical students free tuition. It would be great if so many other billionaires contributed opportunities such as this one.  3. Inside Out 2 (Highest Grossing Pixar Film) - I haven't seen it. But considering Pixar's history, that is quite the accomplishment.  3 Down 1. Trump Assassination Attempt - I said most of my thoughts on this in a post earlier this week . As noted above on tipping a cap to the memory of Corey Comperatore, we've gotta be better.  2. Gun Problem in the U.S. - It's such a crazy thought that a twenty-year-old is able to acquire such a...

The Trump Shooting: What Are We Going Forward?

We're undoubtedly in a special time in history, specifically in politics.   We're so fractured. Tremendously fractured. Beyond differences, in ways that I'm not even sure either party or those who identify with either party, remember the ideals the parties are to represent.  And now, we find ourselves in the aftermath of a potential Presidential candidate, and a former President, in an attempted assassination. One inch - probably even less than that - from being in a catastrophic rock bottom moment of which we would have no one to blame but ourselves.  Thank the Good Lord for the minuscule distance of separation.  But this is where we find ourselves. In this political divide. In the middle of this toxicity within the political community. Unable to pull ourselves from the hyperdrive medium that is our national media outlets. Our continued issues with guns in a modern age, and how they end up in the wrong hands. And yes, those damn conspiracy theories. Here we are...

Thoughts on Mikal Bridges Trade to Knicks

Welp. There it is.  The whole "Bridges to the Knicks" concept felt so obvious that it almost seemed like it wouldn't happen because it was such a perfect thing that needed to happen. Plus, there is still that underwhelming feeling that good things like that don't happen to us.  Well, not anymore. Mikal Bridges is a Knick, and it is official.  This organization finally pushed all of its picks into the middle of the table and swung for the big move we all knew was inevitable.  Here is the final story on that deal: NYK Receives: Mikal Bridges, Keita Bates-Diop, 2026 MIL/DET/ORL 2nd (least favorable) BKN Receives: Bojan Bogdanovic, Shake Milton (sign-and-trade), Mamadi Diakite, 2025 NYK 1st, 2025 MIL 1st, 2027 NYK 1st, 2028 NYK Swap Rights, 2029 NYK 1st, 2031 NYK 1st, 2025 BKN 2nd Some love the deal. Others thought we overpaid. And of course, the national media will #knicksforclicks this thing... Here are some quick thoughts on Bridges to the Knicks for this Knicks fan:...

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 7/7/24

3 Up 1. FDA Drug to Slow Alzheimers - It's always a good thing when these drugs hit the market. Alzheimer's disease and dementia hit me hard because of what it did to my dad. It's nasty. Anything to help slow or eradicate it is welcomed.  2. July 4th Weekend - It was a nice long weekend. At its core, the holiday is sometimes hard to appreciate or celebrate. Very complicated. In the end, we are fortunate to be in this nation.  3. John Cena - The GOAT. He's my pick (and that's not because of the WWE machine). Cena announced his final tour in 2025 before retiring from the squared circle. What. A. Career.  3 Down 1. Middle Schoolers in PA Impersonating Teachers - This story is wild. Just wild. It makes me fear for my sons in the future as well as the environment they are headed into. I'm at the point where I would be okay if social media just went away. Really, I would.  2. Hurricane Beryl - Hurricane season is now early and it has pummeled the islands, including St...

Quick Ponder: Endorsed Earnings

"You (really) deserve it." Coming from the right person, that can mean everything.
