Dome Pondering

Sometimes things are just meant to be, and often times, some people ought to be in specific places. I truly believe that. This is the case when it comes to Jeff Jarrett and Impact Wrestling (formerly, of course, TNA Wrestling). The two simply belong together, and the two work the best when they are hand in hand.  This has been very evident (at least from this wrestling fan) since Anthem has taken over ownership, and the entire regime has changed over. This company feels, operates, and has a certain energy and vision around and behind it that hasn't been there since the old days of TNA Wrestling, which many enjoyed and believed in.  I'm not ready to proclaim that it is at that same level, but THAT feeling is back. The company feel organized, has a vision and game plan, and outright, and quite frankly, it feels like the company gives a damn about it's fans again.

3 Up 1. 88 Kids Adopted - This story of a couple adopting 88 kids, all with special needs, over the past four decades is downright remarkable. Enough cannot be said about the big heart and commitment to humanity that this couple embodies. Can we get more news like this in the mainstream cycle?  2. Big 3 League - I have to say, I absolutely love the idea Ice Cube has made into a reality. The idea of 3-on-3 basketball with former NBA players who can still ball is very intriguing. I missed out on attending the first event which was here in Brooklyn today, but plan to catch the airing of the broadcasts. Again, much respect to Ice Cube. I love innovation in sports.  3. NBA Draft Experience - As you say in my latest post, I had the luxury of attending the NBA Draft this week and it was a fun experience. I still wouldn't pay to attend (which I doubt many in attendance did), but the production and the fandom was great. The NBA definitely knows how to put on a spectacle. 

Wow. Sixteen Hundred. Life keeps happening, and of course, I keep rolling. It's been an interesting year and a half for myself, and of course, the reflections here on the DP represent that. The comments came all day long, and from everywhere. "Nice shirt! Love me some Kristaps! If they trade him tonight, I tell you what, I'll help you chant 'Fire Phil'".  "They better keep the Unicorn in New York." "Hey, did they trade Porzingis? Please tell me they didn't trade KP!"  These were some of the comments to come out of random conversations I had with complete and total strangers today as I rocked my Porzingis T-shirt jersey and some bright orange nike's. The move served as a therapeutic last ditch protesting effort to accentuating my (unfortunate) feelings for this basketball team representing this great and wonderful city. I'm with Porzingis.  The first comment was made by the spry female usher guiding me to my seat at the Barclay's Center. How to Think About Bill Cosby... - A recent article in the New York Times discusses and opined on an issue facing many - navigating enjoying "The Cosby Show" and the recent development surrounding Bill Cosby. As a big fan of the show myself, the piece is extremely good, and touches on some interesting tidbits we ought to keep in mind regarding the show.  3. America's Generosity - According to recent reports, Americans donated over $390 Billion to charity in 2016. In the face of all the negativity we see in the news each day, it's refreshing to hear of such generosity in our nation.  3 Down 1. The NBA Finals are over and I can't say that I'm surprised. Really, is anyone? The Golden State Warriors are your NBA Champions. The victory feels - of course, expected - but also, as if we watched the long drawn out process of the inevitable. Because, it was. This whole season simply felt similar to when you have an almost unrealistic team in Franchise mode of [pick your favorite sports video game here], and you simulate the season. Sure there is that chance you can lose, but let's be honest, the likelihood of that happening is slim. Sorry for the video game analogy. But, after all, it's quite accurate, isn't it? Because the Warriors roster is just that...videogame-like. Regardless, the conclusion of the Finals brought about several thoughts from yours truly. Like everyone has already does, here are some quick reactions:

3 Up 1. Scooter Gennett - Yes, you probably already forgot his name if you didn't know it before. But Gennett put together one of the best games ever in the history of baseball hitting four home runs in one game for ten RBIs. Unbelievable.  2. Aaron Judge - Speaking of unbelievable, how amazing has this guy been? Judge's home run today that went 495 feet, and quite frankly, was a majestic shot worth staring in awe over, earned him this number two spot. Oh yeah, he also hit another one today. The kid is unreal.  3. Stanley Cup Finals - Rounding out a Sunday top three full of sports topics is the Stanley Cup Finals. Believe it or not, I watched them, was intrigued by them, and very much enjoyed them. It really was a lot of fun and I gained a new appreciation for the game of hockey.  3 Down 1. Oh, just another ballpark, but this one, north of the border in wonderful Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The tag team partner and I, on our quest to get to all of the Major League Baseball stadiums the way some try to catch Pokemon, made our way to Canada for a vacation, and as timing would have it, to see our New York Yankees play the Toronto Blue Jays.  As always, before arriving to these stadiums, I tend to have a pre-conceived notion from what I have heard about it, what I have read about it, what it looks like in videogames, what it looks like when I drop the Google Maps guy around the stadium (Yes, I do that - I often travel using that thing. I'm weird, I know...), and finally, whenever I watch a game from that location.  The Rogers Centre is a unique stadium.

3 Up  1. British Authorities - Albeit for a terrible situation (See: #1 Down below), the reaction of British Authorities to the terrorist attacks in London were not only swift, but also effective, and very diligent. Also, the leadership of Prime Minister Theresa May in the aftermath is so commendable.  2. Wonder Woman - Despite the obvious empowerment of women through the film, Wonder Woman broke some major records this weekend, including, ironically, one for highest grossing box office for a film directed by a women. I love it. Who doesn't love equality? See how awesome love and diversity can be?  3. Nashville - Kudos to this city for showing the rest of North America what supporting a local team looks like. The energy and support coming out of Nashville for it's Predators in the Stanley Cup Finals is incomparable. I'm actually into this series over the snooze-fest that has been the NBA Playoffs.
