Remembering the 2011-2012 NBA Season

Well, LeBron James finally got his ring, and as mentioned previously here on the DP ( A Ring For The King Well Deserved ), he definitely stuck it to all of us who have hated on him. He is now a champion, and we can never take the 2011-2012 season away from him.  And quite honestly, this NBA season was a thrill-ride with many moments, many controversies, and various highlights that kept us coming back to the well for more. The NBA is currently in a tremendous place, and moving forward, this season will always be one that we can look at as serving as a catalyst. With that said, the following are some moments and memories that I will take away from this NBA season:

Dome Pondering Movie Review: Source Code (2011)

What is it about? A former U.S. Airforce captain wakes up in the body of an unknown man and finds out he is part of a project to find the bomber of a Chicago-bound train.  Who is in it? Jake Gyllenhaal - Colter Stevens Michelle Monaghan - Christina Warren Vera Farminga - Collen Goodwin Jeffrey Wright - Dr. Rutledge

365 Thought Provoking Questions. Answered: #258-273

258. What is the one primary quality you look for in a significant other? The one primary quality that I look(ed) for in a significant other is an ability to be self-less. Fortunately, I found someone like that in my tag team partner, my wife. Well...except when it comes to Macaroni and Cheese spirals. She loves those, and rarely shares them with me. But for the most part, she's been awesome.  259. What do you admire most about your mother and father? I guess this ties in with the above question, and quite possibly could be a result of my upbringing, but I admire their unselfishness. My parents give, and give, and give, and give. Whether it be to me, my tag team partner, my in-laws, friends, family, charity, missionaries, or someone in need, they have always backed up their lesson to me that the reward of giving is much greater than receiving.

2012 All-Star DP Clash - Final Four

Here we go! We are now down to the final four of the DP All-Star Clash. These four have survived the craziness, the quirkiness, the foolishness, and just a little bit of logic to get this far. Making it through their respective bracekts, the four now look to head to the first ever DP Clash Finals. Similar to the last round, the final four format will include a best-of-seven criteria of more interesting topics.  This round's topics are 1. Best dressed; 2. Catchphrase; 3. T-Shirt Test; 4. Villain Threat; 5. Greatest Accomplishment; 6. The Wrestling Promo; and 7. Live Performance Payment (Which is worth the money live). With that said, let's get on with it.

A Ring For The King Well Deserved

Well, he proved us all wrong. Admit it, he got you as well. On the heels of witnessing (is that phrase still hurtful to Clevelanders?) LeBron James win his first NBA Championship, the topic of his ongoing career has once again become the talk. We are no longer talking about where he is going to sign (thank goodness!), but now the trendy conversation revolves around how many Championships he is going to win (not 1, not 2, not 3...)? Is he now in the conversation with Michael Jordan? How many titles does he need to validate himself? Will he ever go back to Cleveland?    All questions that make for interesting sports talk, but can we hold off for a few days? Can we simply just give him his due in the moment - the way it should be.

Dome Pondering Import - Mark Cuban On ESPN First Take

Thank you! Thank so much Mr. Cuban! I completely agree with Mark Cuban's recent position on ESPN's First Take where he pretty much confronted all basketball "analysts" and media, specifically, the utterly ignorant and annoying, Skip Bayless for their absurd comments and statements in evaluating games and situations.  Bayless, who has bascially earned his fame through idiotic comments that are against the grain, was publically embarrassed by Cuban for his lack of knowledge when it comes to his comments, especially his overly arrogant and shallow comments when it comes to LeBron James.

How Much Before We Are Ashamed?

Here we go again! Just when you thought the news could not indict a failing generation anymore, we get the recent video that has gone viral about the harassment and utter torture a bus monitor in Greece, NY suffered on a particular day. The video, which has become a huge topic of conversation, including over a million hits on YouTube, and has also spurred a website that has raised over $500,000 for the woman, serves as a stark reminder of where we are headed as a culture.  Now, I've already sort of hopped on my soap box about today's society in a recent post ( Brown and Drake Fight Exemplifies Lost Generation ), but I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge this story. I'd be a bit of a fraud if I stated that I didn't participate in what has become known as "bullying" today. And let's be honest, you did as well. We all teased one another growing up. We all made fun of someone else's weird physical features. We've all insulted others ba

242. What do you think about when you lie awake in bed? The day's happenings, decisions and occurrences. Also, the next day and the future is often amongst the thought process. 243. What’s something most people don’t know about you? You mean something that I haven't already admitted on this blog already? Nonetheless, here is a fact most don't know about me: because of my left foot and the several corrective surgeries and inserted pin it has endured, my left foot is one size smaller that my right foot. My left foot is a size 11, and my right, a size 12.

Brown and Drake Fight Exemplify Lost Generation

I'll be the first to admit that my thoughts of today's generation aren't of the highest regards. I've made that known in the past here on the DP several times, and because of that, I try to refrain from commenting and thus sounding like a broken record. But if you are new to the DP, in a nut shell, today's generation is uncreative, lazy, egotistical, narcissistic, and somehow feels overly entitled to any and everything. Sorry, if that sounds harsh. With that said, it is stories like the recent Chris Brown and Drake late-night club fight that causes one to reignite the above claims and thoughts about today's generation, more specifically, music and our society.

2012 All-Star DP Clash - 3rd Round (All Brackets)

We are now down to the final eight in the entire DP Clash bracket. As we head into the third round, the remaining participants will now be judged on seven criteria which will serve as a best of seven in each clash. The seven criteria are: 1. Appearance; 2. Physical Ability; 3. Talents; 4. Flexibility; 5. Humor; 6. Dinner test (Who is worthy of having dinner with); and if we are still tied and in need of a 7th and deciding criteria, 7. longevity. With that said, let's jump into the third round and see who will win their bracket and head to the DP Final Four.

Dome Pondering Import - Matt Cain's Perfect Game

On Wednesday, June 13th, 2012, Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants became the 22nd person in Major League Baseball, and the first in San Francisco Giants history, to throw a perfect game. The pitching feat, performed against the Houston Astros, also included the impressive notch of striking out 14 batters. Cain, recently tabbed by his peers and fellow players as baseball's most underrated pitcher in the game, finally received the attention, accolades and praise for the body of work he has put together over the years in San Francisco. Perfection should always be celebrated, and here at the DP, it always will. Congratulations to a well deserved, Matt Cain.

The Pondering 10 - TNA Wrestling Memorable Moments

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear TNA Wrestliiiiiiiiing...Happy Birthday to you! Yes, TNA Wrestling will be celebrating it's tenth year of existence today in the form of it's anniversary show, Slammiversary . As a fan of TNA since the very first show, a quality that even TNA founder, Jeff Jarrett found impressive when we had our encounter in the Men's bathroom of a minor-league baseball stadium (quite funny story you can read here ), I almost feel as part of the company as it grows. From taping (yes on VHS!) the weekly pay-per-views in Nashville to watching Impact on Fox Sports on Fridays in college, to finally now watching the program in prime-time on Spike, TNA has given this long-time fan many memories to come away with the over the last ten years. With that said, let's use this Pondering 10 to look at the top ten moments in TNA History.

Turning My Back On Brooklyn?

"Hello Brooklyn!" That's usually a common phrase that yours truly loves to hear. It brings sweet joy to my heart whenever it is heard. Heck, whenever I am leave the borough and re-enter it, and I see that "Welcome to Brooklyn" sign followed by the phrase "How Sweet it is" or "fughgeddaboutit, I still get revved up! For those of you new to the DP, yes, yours truly is from Brooklyn. I was born in Brooklyn, raised in Brooklyn, currently lives in Brooklyn, and considers Brooklyn to be the greatest place on earth.  Bias? No. It really is.

Looking Ahead to the New York Knicks Off-Season

After the clock hit 0.00 in Miami a few weeks ago, the New York Knicks hopes of a playoff run ended, and the season was officially declared dead. And for the forty-third time, it ended without the Larry O’Brien trophy in James Dolan's grubby hands and a ticker-tape parade down the Canyon of Heroes. As Knick fans watch four talented teams, and two in which we utterly despise in the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics play for the right to represent the Eastern Conference in this year’s NBA Finals, the thought process and look-ahead has begun on what the upcoming season will bring. So in DP tradition, let’s map out a rational course for those of you who are panicking and unsettled about the Knicks future.

365 Thought Provoking Questions. Answered: #226-241

226. What would you like to change? The world. I know that sounds pretty ambitious, but to quote Tupac Shakur (I know some of you are saying, "is he really quoting Tupac?", but stay with me), "I'm not saying I'm going to change the world, but I guarantee I will spark the brain that will change the world." I want to be a part of that change somehow. If not, I'll die trying.  227. How many people do you love? Not many, to be honest. The obvious parents, wife, friends, in-laws, and a select few, but my circle of love, for lack of a less cheesier term, isn't that extended. 228. What’s the best decision you’ve ever made? At this point in my life, I would say choosing to attend the College that I did. While Cazenovia College wasn't your typical large university and it takes a certain character to stay their four years, I learned many things about myself, others, as well as life all while meeting a tremendous friend and his family,
