While attempting to help Kate move, Luke suffers a very bad cut. In that moment, Kate is struck with panic and doesn't help Luke, who needs the assistance.

Review:
Drinking Buddies is not cliché. However, it's also a film that could have used a more resolute or definitive ending.
The relationship of Luke and Kate carries the film, and at times, you think it'll go the obvious way of them finding romance. However, as the film continues, especially near the end, I found myself very much hoping they never do get together. Luke and Kate are exactly that - drinking buddies, and don't bring out the best in one another.
I found Kate to be selfish and unaware of what she wants. Luke found that with Jill, and the scene where she comes home, is honest with him, and immediately tends to his cut - the same cut Kate refused to help with - told it all.
Drinking Buddies is an interesting film that shines a light on workplace relationships and the fragility of platonic friendships across gender lines. Overall, it's shallow in many areas, yet, filled with a heavy star-studded cast, which is very shocking.
Give this one a view if you want. It's meh.
