Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/11/25

3 Up

1. Mother's Day - A glorious day to honor the mothers and women who make so much happen. Hoping you and yours had a terrific Mother's Day.

2. Teacher Appreciation Week - Another period for appreciation, we gave praise to teachers all week. This group deserves it - but even more so, should be celebrated all year.

3. New York Knicks - My boys in orange and blue took TWO in Boston in dramatic fashion. Yes, they dropped Game 3 this weekend, but the aura and overall vibes were the kinds we haven't felt in years (maybe, decades!).

3 Down

1. Pakistan and India - Soooo, yeah...just what the world needs is yet ANOTHER rising escalation of conflict and possible war. Our government negotiated a ceasefire, so let's hope this is resolved, somewhat.

2. South Afrikaans Asylum - I don't understand the logic here. We've pushed and pushed for immigration control and making America first. Butttttttt, we are now granting Asylum to Afrikaans in South Africa? There's an obvious answer here, but even looking past that, the messaging is terrible.

3. Safe to Sleep - An argument can be made that the firing of Carla Hayden was unbelievable. However, among all of these cuts and aligning of philosophy, is the complete gutting of "Sfe to Sleep", a public campaign that has done great work in reducing the number of infant deaths in their sleep by 50%.

What are we doing?

3 Interesting

1. New Pope - Truthfully, I don't get the role of the Pope. But we have a new one, and he's from Chicago. Pretty cool. But again, not sure of the role. Maybe it's just me...

2. MET Gala - The outfits are cool. The entire event is super 1%. We all like looking in on the fish bowl...how the rich live. Why are we like this?!

3. Reopen Alcatraz - President Trump had this idea...yeah, I don't get it, either.

Predictions and Wild Guesses for the 2025 MLB Season

Well, after that off-season where the Dodgers deferred enough money to build the Athletics a new ballpark, it's time for the remaining fanbases who don't have Guggenheim money to hope for the best.
