Review:
Good Posture was an impulse add to my "Watch List" on Amazon Prime, and I finally got around to watching.
The film is a mixed bag, ripe for a deep connection through so many opportunities, yet shallow in other areas of character development and plot. Don't get me wrong, Good Posture is a decent film; for the nerds, you'll get "Finding Forrester" vibes but not quite the same impact. Good Posture leaves it up to the imagination regarding the characters, and in some aspects, how they truly connect. There are a lot of subtleties that are unexplained (intentional or not) that do make you wonder, maybe more than some would like.
The best part of Good Posture is Grace Van Patten, who was perfect in the role of Lillian. She's not likable. At all. However, you do sympathize with her as the movie goes on, especially when it comes to her far worse Dad.
A shoutout to the scenes of Brooklyn. As a native, sometimes films glamorize New York City - this one did not. The scenes of Brooklyn were raw, real, and felt like they should.
It's an okay watch. Enjoyable. Just don't expect too much.
