Review:
I finally watched Without Remorse. Because it's an Amazon original film, I may have taken its availability for granted. During a week I had some time off from the World, I finally watched it, and I wasn't disappointed.
For starters, I'm not a huge Tom Clancy aficionado, so my review is coming from a casual. But I do love a good thriller, especially from that of a rogue government official turned independent spy. Long live Jason Bourne.
Without Remorse, should there be a sequel, of which I understand there will be, has the potential to be something amazing. This film sets the table for the character of John Kelly in a nice way. The plot was simple, easy to follow, and a good foundation for hopefully more. And Michael B. Jordan is a great pick as Kelly going forward.
However, that's all it is. Don't expect too much in terms of plots, swerves, and overall direction.
Without Remorse is shot very dark, and there are a lot of intense scenes, specifically one that captures the entire film (see: Favorite Scene above).
Again, solid action film that sets you up for hopefully more. As a standalone, it's alright.
Grade: 3/5
