Sunday Sundown Rundown - 3/15/26

The Sunday Sundown Rundown (formerly in the format of "3 Up and 3 Down") is where I share thoughts on three topics that piqued my interest, along with my favorite photo from the week.

Hoop Moments

We saw a lot of amazing feats in the world of hoops this week. The first was that of Bam Adebayo going off for 83 Points against the Washington Wizards. While many had their say (so did I), the night brought about a shockwave of comparing eras and the overall integrity of the game.

And there was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who set a new record and extended the streak to 128 games of 20+ points this week. The record smashes Wilt Chamberlain's former record, which in itself is not easy.

The NBA currently struggles with intertwining the eras of its product together, with respect and honor - there's a lot of comparing and downplaying of eras, as we all know.

This week added depth to all of the conversations surrounding these comparisons and appreciation within the game.

Affordability and Politics

It was weird watching Vice President JD Vance this week blame the rising cost of gas prices on former President Joe Biden.

Without getting heavy into politics, what stands at the top of my thoughts is this: how effective is gaslighting by politicians? Seriously! I'm genuinely asking, do politicians and their strategists use these tactics because they actually work? Frankly, they can't believe that the American public buys that reasoning, right? Right?!

Even more so, do politicians in these high positions even care about affordability?

Again, another thought and genuine question from this week.

Jordan Wins

I haven't seen Sinners (2025) yet. I know, I know...I'll get around to it.

Nonetheless, it's remarkable that Jordan finds himself atop Hollywood on this Sunday night. He's in the rarified company of lead black actors receiving the Oscar's top prize. And his speech exemplified that he was very aware and conscious of the history in play. Great stuff.

I remember this dude from Hardball (2001), and a personal favorite of mine, as Vince Howard in Friday Night Lights (Television Series). There was also Fruitvale Station (2013). From Vince Howard to his portrayal of the late Oscar Grant, he always seemed like one of those actors - the it factor.

I mean, what do I know...but he just had it. It's surreal to see a talent come this far.

Kudos to Jordan, who continues to crush it.

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. Would you rather have Giannis Antetokounpo with no driving ability or James Harden with no Three-Point shooting ability?  This is definitely a weird and unique one, but I'll take Harden. Giannis without his strength doesn't offer much. However, if Harden's d...

TNA Slammiversary 2026: "A great show that felt like it could have been epic with the proper buildup."

TNA certainly came into Slammiversary 2026 carrying some public relations (or perception?) baggage which affected the excitement for this event. For me, Slammiversary has become one of those wrestling events on the calendar that moves the needle for me. This is especially the case after attending last year's historic event.   This year, the hype was not there. And ultimately, the overall creative process for the product for most of 2026 was well...plain. It wasn't terrible. But yeeaaaaaahhhhhhh, nothing felt overly exciting. The company had no major storyline driver. And thus, we saw the removal of Tommy Dreamer as head of creative at TNA after being with the company for almost ten years. Much of Slammiversary 2026 felt like it was pulled together two weeks out. And even heading into the show, with the added drama of Dreamer's release, TNA once again felt unstable.  Fortunately, what we got was a great show that feels like - again, there is that perception thing! - TNA is ...

WWE SummerSlam 2026 Review: "Oba is made in the shade" & Roman vs. Seth Captures Magic

I can't say I was excited about SummerSlam heading into the event. Some storylines have moved me, but, much like pro wrestling in 2026, it feels like yet another incomplete creative vehicle (some good, some bad), with the hope that the event itself will overcome the shortcomings of the hype.  Admittedly, WWE could pull this off this weekend with some memorable moments (and outcomes), specifically from the two main title matches and from Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar. Maybe a return or two as well. Chances are, they likely will.  Personally, I have Penta vs. Chad Gable circled. I might be the only one, I know.  Nonetheless, happy SummerSlam weekend, everyone.  --- Random Tidbits Is it me, or were the overall vibes going into this year's SummerSlam just...well, off? I've already cited build, but there was just something else...ah well.  I know attendance is always a discussion point, but 30K+ is still pretty dam impressive for each night.  The stage was VERY impr...
