Sunday Sundown Rundown - 8/31/14

3 Up

1. Iraq Breaks ISIS Seige - After weeks of ISIS slowly invading the region of Iraq, running rampant, and doing unspeakable things, it was refreshing to hear that Iraqi forces ceased the siege a bit. Even just a little is good. Especially, when they were able to free thousands who have been trapped without much food, water, or basic supplies.

2. Mike Trout - My man has been awesome this week. Leading the Angels to some key wins over the Athletics, and doing so in the usual Mike Trout way - using all five tools of the game, and using them spectacularly.

3. Productive PE Class - Kudos to a school in Iowa who will begin using heart rate monitors to grade students in physical education classes. We MUST get kids active in this generation of hand held devices, and I'm a big fan of schools leading the way.

3 Down

1. Forgetting Ferguson - I know the rallies and protests have calmed as it is understood that they can't go on forever. And the story progression and updates have stalled as well. But it seems what I feared s coming true, that this issue was nothing more than just a hot-button issue for the moment and not a revolutionary movement. It's disheartening.

2. Nude Leaks Frenzy - A hacker has apparently hacked and released many nude and revealing photos of celebrities to the public. Regardless of content, the invasion of privacy is disgusting and the uproar and excitement about them says it all about our society.

3. Summer End - Where did summer go? Seriously, this summer really seemed to have flown by. I'm really not ready for Fall, the academic year, cold weather, and everything else that is NOT summer. But, oh well, it's over.

Now That It's Over - Enjoyable and Pain All At Once

Welp, it's over.  Is it possible for something to be so enjoyable yet hurt so bad now that it's over?  That's the only way to describe the end of this New York Knicks season. Even after giving it a few days, ironically on the night that the NBA Finals begin - the Finals I thought we really could have gotten to - I still find myself reeling.  Everytime that damn clip of Haliburton's shot bouncing into the air and dropping in...bruh... But, I needed the time to gather my thoughts and feelings, reject the crazy hot takes and absurd opinions, and adjust to some of the immediate changes the Knicks made.  So here we go:  Immediate Thoughts This was easily! - my favorite Knicks season and team since 1998-1999. I know I said that last year, but this era of Knicks basketball has provided me with such luxury to move the goal posts and update these personal lists.  I genuinely loved this run despite its ending.  Jalen Brunson's shot in the Detroit Pistons series ...
