Sunday Sundown Rundown - 3/6/16

3 Up

1. UFC 196 - What a double main event! I'm pretty sure that Dana White lost lots of money when it came to the endings of both fights, but the fights themselves, and the shocking endings were very, very entertaining. Probably the best double main event I've ever seen in MMA. 

2. Norma - This story is fantastic. A 90 year old woman named Norma who has been recently diagnosed with cancer, decided to skip treatment to take a long road trip across the United States. There is so much to learn from in this story, which makes it all the more awesome. 

3. Peyton Manning Retirement - It's just felt right at this time. It's always terrible watching a great athlete struggle in the latter years of his career. But the fact that Peyton won the big one on his way out, and is leaving on that note, is a nice bow on the end.

1. Presidential Race- I'm not sure what it is, but the Presidential race on both sides have gotten to the point where I am exhausted. The race is now ridiculous, and no longer one of integrity. I actually fear for the options we as Americans will have. Just bloggin'.

2. LeBron Rumors - So here we go again with the rumors of LeBron leaving Cleveland again. And of course, the sporting talking heads are now ALL about speculating his next move. Ugh. 

3. OJ Simpson Trial Revival - It's been that type of week in the shoddy/ridiculous news realm of life. A knife was found, and a 24 year old case may have possibly been turned around? Ummm, yeah, thanks for the loud noise. Of course, NOTHING to see/hear/read here.

Dome Pondering Move Review: Say You Will (2017)

What is it about? A recent high school graduate cares for his mother while attempting to navigate his first relationship following his father's suicide.  Who is in it? Travis Tope - Sam Nimitz Katherine Hughes - Ellie Vaughn Favorite Scene: [spoiler alert] Sam plays his song for his mom. Favorite Quote: Ellie: "I wish we could have met down the road, maybe when we were like 27." Sam: "I think we needed each other now." Review:  Say You Will was an absolutely pleasant surprise of a watch from the Amazon Prime offerings.  I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with this one, but after the credits rolled, it was a movie that provided authentic characters and a great lesson on life. We don't always have to have everything figured out, and it's okay if you don't.  What makes Say You Will so beautiful is that all of the characters are carrying some inner struggle that connects them in the moment and time that helps them through whatever it is. Sunday Sundown Rundown - 2/11/19

3 Up 1. Eva Ramon Gallegos Cure HPV - Could Cervical Cancer be a thing of the past? It very much looks like it as after twenty years of work, Gallegos has found a cure that completely eliminates the cancer. This is remarkable work, and it's pretty awesome to see the Mexican Medical community come together proudly in this achievement. 2. "This is America" Grammy - Finally!! Childish Gambino got some national love for the work he did on this great song, and even more so, on the overall art/video that was "This is America". Of course, he wasn't there to pick it up as the Grammys and their long standing issue with the hip-hop community continues... 3. Women at SOTU - Women continue to be bad ass in the current age. Their solidarity within the Capitol for the President's SOTU was a great sight to see. 3 Down 1. 3 Up 1. Costco Pay Increase - Costco is doubling down on DEI policies. Now, it's offering its workers a liveable wage? We're in a weird world where this is the company receiving strong threats of boycotts and investor backlash. Kudos to Costco. 2. Kidney Transplant - We've got transplants now from pigs - PIGS! It's really cool to read about. But really, much like the above "Up" - we're in some weird times right now.  3. Beyonce - It's amazing to think that Beyonce is the first black woman to win a Grammy for Best Country Album. There are two things there for me - 1) Did it really take this long for a black artist to win? 2) When it's all said and done, Beyonce's legacy will need layers and time to be broken down and appreciated.  3 Down 1.
