Sunday Sundown Rundown - 7/14/13

3 Up

1. Tim Lincecum - Just when we all started asking that question, "what happened to Tim Lincecum?", he goes out and tosses a no hitter, with thirteen strikeouts as an exclamation point.

2. Improved Health of Nelson Mandella - For the last few weeks it seems as if the great Nelson Mandella was in his final days. However, with recent improvement, things are beginning to turn around. With all of the social and civil rights agendas that are hot topics, losing Mandella right now would be tough.

3. Talib Kweli's Latest Album, Prisoner of Conscious - With all of the hype over Jay-Z's "Magna Carta Holy Grail", Kanye West's "Yeezus", and J-Cole's "Born Sinner", Prisoner of Conscious earns my endorsement over them all for best rap album. Yes, I just said that. For me, album of the summer...so far.

3 Down

1. Trayvon Martin/ George Zimmerman Verdict - I know it sounds weird, but when I said that "I wasn't surprised, but was shocked" on Twitter, that's how I truly felt. There wasn't enough evidence to convict him, but at the same time, it's simply the same old script. More on this to come tomorrow on the DP.

2. Al Sharpton, and Every Other "Civil Rights" Spokespeople - Please stop. Just stop. When thousands of black men die every day in this nation's inner cities you are no where to be found. When one happens that supposedly has "racial" overtones and is a national story, you pop up with your agenda. Stop turning these real issues into a chance to further your agenda.

3. Social Media Pundits - Everyone these days voice their opinions over social media, and for people like me, through a blog. But I really hate the trend of everyone taking to Facebook or Twitter doing useless things in support of your motive. Changing profile pics, posting created pictures, and constant updates about "how angry you are" is lame, pointless, and unproductive. Want to make a difference? Move away from your screens, and get out in the real world and make a change.

...I might have given away some of my post on the Trayvon Martin reaction for tomorrow.

Would You Rather: Questions 121-130

This edition of "Would You Rather" is credited to the NBA Would You Rather NBA Account on Instagram ( See Here ). Adding to the fun, this edition (and possibly future ones) are all NBA basketball questions.  121. Who would you rather have on your favorite NBA team - Giannis Antetokounpo or James Harden?  Seeing how I'm a lifelong suffering Knicks fan, the thought of any of these guys in blue and orange is hard to believe. With that said, I'm taking the Greek Freak for this reason - I enjoy watching him play a bit more. Nothing against Harden who is amazing as well, but at times, the ball sticks and that isn't always fun. Plus, I feel like we haven't yet seen a finished Giannis. 122. Would you rather have Giannis Antetokounpo with no driving ability or James Harden with no Three-Point shooting ability?  This is definitely a weird and unique one, but I'll take Harden. Giannis without his strength doesn't offer much. However, if Harden's d...

Dome Pondering Move Review: Say You Will (2017)

What is it about? A recent high school graduate cares for his mother while attempting to navigate his first relationship following his father's suicide.  Who is in it? Travis Tope - Sam Nimitz Katherine Hughes - Ellie Vaughn Favorite Scene: [spoiler alert] Sam plays his song for his mom. Favorite Quote: Ellie: "I wish we could have met down the road, maybe when we were like 27." Sam: "I think we needed each other now." Review:  Say You Will was an absolutely pleasant surprise of a watch from the Amazon Prime offerings.  I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with this one, but after the credits rolled, it was a movie that provided authentic characters and a great lesson on life. We don't always have to have everything figured out, and it's okay if you don't.  What makes Say You Will so beautiful is that all of the characters are carrying some inner struggle that connects them in the moment and time that helps them through whatever it is. The unlike...

Knicks Postseason 2026, 2nd Round vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Well, it's the Sixers in Round 2.  Review Thoughts from Round 1 The Celtics messed around and found out. And now, we have the red-hot Sixers in a very intriguing second-round matchup. Before even diving into the series, I immediately think about that 2023-2024 1st Round match-up that I often refer to as the series that took years off of my life.  Then again, there was Divo's shot that will forever bring a smile . There is also this dunk from OG Anunoby on Embiid (certified, real Garden villain): The 76ers are super talented on paper. And they have an incredibly high ceiling if healthy and playing together. The Celtics just found that out. That is my biggest fear for this round! When I boil all the stats, actions, sets, and the simple eye-test assessment down to a simple thing, what's left is this: can the Knicks stop contain Tyrese Maxey? Can the 76ers defend a Karl-Anthony Towns pick-and-roll (or pick-and-pop)? That's it.  My Key Matchup: Karl-Anthony Towns vs. Joel ...
