The third inductee to the Dome Pondering Page of Fame, MVP Baseball has quite the peculiar significance and prestige to this blog, and well, to yours truly. To be quite frank, I've probably wasted an obscene amount of time playing this game in my lifetime.
We all have that one hobby, that one activity, or even that one guilty pleasure we are afraid to think of the total amount of time we've spent participating or engaged in for a lifetime. For me, this video game is it. Go ahead, roll your eyes, but any video game fan, especially those of us baseball fans, will tell you that MVP Baseball 2005 was more than just another game - it was the game.
And to be honest, there are very few things in life I've ever been completely confident in. One of the few, was the overwhelming confidence that I could beat anyone - ANYBODY - in this game. Seriously, anyone. And I proved it in gaining a reputation in college as the guy.
Sadly, one day I'll get to Heaven and be able to ask Jesus for statistics on my life (because let's be honest, I'm sure no one will do sabermetrics and advance stats better than the son of the creator of the universe) and finally get to see the total number of hours I logged with my eye balls and thumbs working in unison playing this game.
More hours than I probably spent with my roommate and eventual one-third of my best man trio at my wedding. And surely more hours than I did with a young lady I was dating who eventually became my wife. Yes, this game was that big. And yes, for someone who thoroughly regrets not punching the keyboard in college, at least a little bit, this game took away from the depth of this little blog called Dome Pondering.
Today we close the chapter on MVP Baseball 2005 and place it where it truly belongs - The Dome Pondering Page of Fame.
